How often is it recommended that I optimize the AC databases using the utility program? I noticed that optimization slightly shrinks the size of the database, and I always back up before I do so, but I was wondering if there were any specific recommendations or risks involved. AC 8.3

Hi Kurt,

I know of no risks with optimizing the AC 8.x database.

The only reason that I know of for optimizing is that it can sometimes fix odd problems.

Speed increases and size reduction are usually negligible.

I only use the optimizer prn, maybe once a year or so. When things start to slow down or get buggy. Often helps.
