Was wondering if anyone is using X link yet; we are using Medisoft 9 for practice management/scheduling and AC for charting, and have been getting some complaints from staff about double entry. Has it been successful for you? Can you just copy/paste the chart number from one program onto the chart number space on AC and have it find the right chart? We'd like to try it but are afraid it will set up 1000s of duplicate charts...and make an unsolvable and undeletable mess.

Hi Carol, hockeyref posted this question as well, on Dec. 22. He's had 77 views and no replies, leading me to believe that NOBODY is using X-link. Can this be true? I think we need a response from Jon on this one because the documentation on just how X-link and AC interface is elusive if not non-existent. Are you planning on going to v.11 before the NPI deadline? Also, why would you not use AC for scheduling and charting, and use Medisoft for billing only? I had hoped that X-link would solve the problem of essentially having two databases, but have not seen enough evidence of this to consider purchase at this time. An integrated AC EMR/PMR would seem to be a high priority with most of us out here. We're also on v.9, but not for long.

Well, we sure as heck aren't using it. That activation fee is more than the license fee for AC. But, our biller was considering getting it. I'll have to follow up with her and see whats going on.

We have two experiences with X-Link. The first, about 18 months ago, was an attempt to create an interface between our PM, AdvancedMD, and Praxis (which we trying to set up as our EHR). The effort was a disaster, due both to lack of skill on the part of the X-Link programmer and the complexities of the two different programs. We shelved X-Link, and, ultimately, Praxis. A month or so ago, as we were beginning our try-out of AC, we resurrected X-Link. I had to upgrade to the latest version and pay some extra for extended technical support (~$350 total), but they were able to build a link from AdvancedMd to AC that has, so far, proved to be robust and successful. It is NOT automatic; it requires some point and click actions in AC to import data from AdvancedMD. We have not yet implemented the AC to AdvancedMD link, as we are considering moving away from AdvancedMD (very expensive).

:/Ah Ha, and they call me mad!!! There is a method to my madness. I said it once, I'll say it a hundred times. PLEASE, each and every one of you write Jon regularly and keep bugging him for this new PM module. He will respond to the squeaky wheels. jon@amazingcharts.com Promise to Beta the thing for him too. Show him we're all willing to be team players. I too am very concerned about putting my patients and data in the hands of two other vendors. Worse yet, if the link gets "strange" could it start putting bad data into all our AC databases? I was thinking of trying to use the link for Altapoint or use EZ Claims which doesn't need a link, but it is just really billing only, no real PM components to speak of. Then to assist with the financial side of PM I was thinking of hooking up either one of those two PM modules into my QuickBooks. Now here we would have two to three different vendors, with different ways on tracking and separating out who's who, sharing data and patients bi-directionally. I have been adding my patients as customers in QuickBooks for quite some time now and my question is how does each database tell one person from another, Name, Account or Chart Number, will it be case dependent and so on? How many duplicate charts can you envision my possibly having if you follow my trend of thought here. Perhaps we should all ask AC Tech to give us the contact info for a few users that are successfully using the X-Link with some other PM module, program and see if they even have anybody yet? I wish Jon would at least post some of the features and snapshots of screens that he is working on, so we could at least make a halfway informed choice as to whether or not to wait him out. Plus, once you have a good system in place, why switch out to Jon's product. With Altapoint, with all the licenses and other stuff, I'm looking at $3K-$4K easy. I bet ya Jon will barely charge $500 to $1K tops...He's almost too nice. I'd rather put that money directly into his pocket with his support staff for his module properly integrated into my existing system and database. Obviously so would all of you. I wish there was some way for all of us to sort of assist him in getting this done and show him our support for suc a large project. Dare I suggest a small downpayment from all of us to help him with his R&D costs? He'd probably never take us up on such an offer.... :whistle Paul

Robert, You talk about building a link between Advanced MD and AC. Are we to understand that until you asked for it, it had never actually been done before? I start to wonder about our other choices then. How many of them have actually been "done" before to work all the kinks out of it. It kind of stinks to pay good money to still be a "beta site" and the first few test rats. Was this before Jon had developed the Official interface between X-link and AC or after? Thanks... Paul
