For years I have randomly posted a script or batch file made from notepad on how to lock your computer screen with one mouse click instead of two keyboard strokes. Doesn't seem like much of Needless Keyboard strokes, but you do generally finish with the computer after saving the note with the mouse in your hand. You can try it if you want. The good news is it is much easier to make using the shortcut setup.

http://www.idsecuritysuite.com/blog/how-to-lock-down-the-computer-via-a-shortcut

One step better. You end up with a functional icon that your probably named "Lock Computer." You can use a key icon if you right click the icon, select properties, under the shortcut tab select Change Icon. Click browse which will take you to Drive letter\Windows\system32

Scroll down to the very bottom, now scroll slowly up and you will find some file using the "keys" icon. Click that and you will have that option. Pretty cool.

I know. I know. How does this help or save us time? Just try it. It is easier.

That's a neat trick, actually. Thanks.

Yes. "PRESSING" Window and L locks the screen. Completely different.

Thanks for the tip, Bert. I installed the link on my task bar and now I use it all the time. Saved me an extra click.

Glad I could help. I agree with Chris that it can be done that way. It's just that when I click save at the end of the visit, my hand is on the mouse and I just slide over and click it.
