My staff mistakenly added a duplicate patient, not realizing the patient was already in AC. Is there a way to merge the EHR records or delete the duplicate?

The only way I see is to rename chart to some other name like "test patient", delete all demo info and set as "inactive". Is that the only way?

Hi ffac,

I vaguely remember an ability to merge patients in the past.

I have been searching and looking in help but I cannot find anything current on this.

Anyone else?

Thanks

Hi,

Log in to this AC forum.

Click on the magnifying glass for search.

Click on the advanced search.

Select search-title-only.

Search for "merge".

You should find about 9 threads on the subject, some of which may help:

@carlfogel -- Thanks for the snarky, unhelpful response. You really think one would post without first searching the forum?

The "merge this patient with another" function under "demographics" tab only moves/copies data and inactivates the source patient. It doesn't delete the duplicate and still leaves the duplicate name.

Hi ffac,

I don't think Carl was being snarky, he seems like a good guy trying to help.

He just was not very helpful to you......

After you rename wrong patient and delete the demographics, is there anything else in the chart? I.E. A note or other clinical piece of information.

I agree with Gene. Carl has been a helpful member of this community since 2013. I doubt he was trying to be snarky. Most just try to help.
