Please don't overread the ACUF donations campaign. It is just once a year to offset the small cost of hosting the board reimbursing RUBEN for help throughout the year taking care of the logistics of the board. I think the max is $20 although we ask for $10. This will last for about 10 days. The cost I paid last year to get it up and running plus Ruben's cost was approximately $500. Now it is down to $400 including Ruben.

I pay for it but I am mostly concerned with the small amount I am able to send Ruben. But, it isn't like the board is in financial ruin.

Congratulations. July 19th will be our first year anniversary!

Looks like Bert set up the "Donations" as an announcement so no further posting is possible in that thread.

I am in for the suggested $20, and would be willing to go (much) higher if necessary. This forum has been indispensable!

Thanks again Bert

I don't recall locking it. If I did, Ruben unlocked it. But, if there is a place to post, then it isn't locked. And, there would be a gold lock at the top left of the thread. Ruben, correct me if you want.

Again, do not go any higher than $20.00. I believe we will be putting a limit on it. If there is a donation higher than $25.00 I will refund it. I believe I am supposed to do a couple of things, but Ruben can't get me off my lazy [censored] to do them. Actually, I have been rather busy. Plus, if truth be known, it is hard to post with Ruben watching. He is lurking just to the right of me. smile

Thanks Gene.

This will be like a Jerry Lewis Telethon. Or NPR. Just to see if we can offset a little of the cost. Not looking for donations all year long. This isn't the GoFundMe of ACUF.

Hi Gene,

I misunderstood your point. It is slightly confusing. When the thread is actively locked by the admin, you cannot respond to it, AND you will not see a field to post in. If it is not locked, you will see a window to reply in, but you will encounter a message saying, "Back off; you cannot respond to an announcement. The original poster can, because the original poster must be an admin or be a moderator with those rights. Since you are a moderator, I could give you or a group rights.

But, I am probably wrong about the latter, and Ruben can correct this. Other than being able to say "psyche" I don't see much of a difference between announcement and locked and announcement, other than the locked option is just available for all posts by those with rights.

Gene
It used to be locked on the older version and could not be unlocked but now we have the option after posting to lock the post from replies.
There are three announcements currently and one of them is locked.

We Encountered A Problem
You may not make replies to announcements.

Maybe it doesn't like me.......

I think it is because of the confusion on being able to reply to an announcement being yea or nay.
The confusion could be caused by me.

FYI,
I did find that the default is no replies to an announcement with the current version.
So that is something I misunderstood.
But if a post is locked then nobody can reply.
There is a announcement by charles@ac I think is corrupted, it looks like the actual forum it came from is gone. .
But I did need to modify the software to allow replies to normal announcements that are not locked..
I have not tested it fully yet because Docgene has been here all day.. smile

He is my test subject

First quick test.
It appears that members can post replies to announcements now , as long as they are not locked.
And not the one by charlie@ac under the Three Case Studies of Happy AC-PM Users post.

All future announcements should be okay to reply to as long as they are not locked.

I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out what was not working.
My mistake was I saw a reply option but I never actually tried to reply..
Once I did I got the error.

Stupid is stupid gets I guess.

The Charlie@AC one. Maybe I can shed some light. Not sure.

When you imported the board over, Charlie came with it. But, they were from the old PriMed regime and no one was going to keep reading it. It was old news. I believe you kept them but only you and I could see them.
