I've been trying out the latest feature, Visit Templates, mainly useful for your run-of-the-mill sore throats, URI, wellness visits, etc. This feature is really poorly executed.
1. Only an Admin can make visit templates, not your employed doctor, not your PA, not your NP who practices independently, the burden lies on YOU. My employed providers can't use it and I've told AC but they say that's just the way it is.
2. When you make a visit template, you pull in a selection of HPI, Exam, Plan, etc. Templates you've previously made for each section. I have MANY templates, and the list to pull from is a random pile that you have to take a lot of time sorting through to find the right mini-template.
3. When you use the visit template, or any template, there is a check box to either keep existing fields or overwrite. (I always keep the PMH, SH, etc). Even though overwrite is checked, the Visit Template always just gets added on to everything else. You have to manually go through and delete all the old junk from your last visit.
So, this is a recent feature from AC that is almost useless. It's like they never tested it or got any feedback from a real provider using it. The sad thing is that when I talk to them about it at GA, there is no communication with the development team and they say to just submit a "bug report" which is now called "recommend improvements." As far as I can tell, this just goes into a "round file" somewhere.
