Is this not possible? Per AC it is not. So midlevels can't refill Ambien? Soon we'll have to escribe all meds, so this isn't going to work well in our office. State law is that midlevels can RX 3 months of schedule IV drugs. Anyone have any ideas or experience with this? MD's are able to escribe Schedule II and IV without issue (aside from it being cumbersome). Thanks.

Similar bullshit legislation in Florida. I eprescribe controlled substances but my midlevel handwrites and thus it will stay until it bites me. Which raises questions about the origin of the saying "bite me."

Fortunately, in Oregon we aren't yet required to eScribe scheduled drugs.
But some of the mail-in pharmacies are requiring it.
I'm making patients who use those services get their controlled drugs locally.
I use the AC prescription writer, but print the Rx's on paper

There was some confusion which AC finally cleared up. Apparently midlevels CAN prescribe schedule IV meds using Surescripts through AC. smile
