First of all, nice new forum! I have been gone for a while, but I am back.

I will be moving office location soon, same city. Long story, but my base hospital suddenly closed... I currently have AC installed in my local server and am considering moving to AC EHR hosted (cloud?) to facilitate the move. I currently use AdvancedMD PM (cloud) for billing and scheduling and use X-Link interface to connect the two. I wonder if I will be able to continue to use the same set up if I go to AC hosted? I do not see why that would be a problem, but one never knows.

How reliable is AC hosted? does it breakdown a lot? What kind of experience should I expect? I currently host AC locally and it works pretty fast. I have fast internet so I hope it will remain fast with the cloud option. Please point me to a post if this has already been discussed.

I have placed a request for a "consultation." I miss the old days when I could just make a phone call and someone would pick up the phone... Those days are gone I guess.

Thanks for the input in advance.

Gerardo

Gerardo,

I have been using AC hosted in the Cloud for several years now and it is very reliable. Now that I can reboot my own cloud server, which I rarely have to, the dreaded black box that required IT support to reset the cloud server is no longer an issue. If one double clicked too quickly, the black box would appear and everything would freeze up until IT support would reboot the server. I cannot remember the last time this has happened now that the hosted server was moved and improved earlier this year.

It's fast and I do not think it is any slower than local server AC. In fact I have a few partners that all do the local server AC and the front office gal that has to get on to AC for all of us from time to time says it is much quicker and easier for her to get on the Cloud AC. And when she is on the hosted AC it is a bit snappier.

This issue does not come up very often but before I went to the hosted AC I would remote in to the office with Log Me In and occasionally the electricity would be out of the office and I would not be able to log in. With hosted AC it is really easy to sign in as long as I have a hotspot on my phone/wifi at home, so if the electricity goes out in the office, I can sign on easily. And as a backup, if we lose electricity or wifi at the office, I just switch my hotspot on my phone on and use my chromebook at the office (with a 12 hour battery) and sign on to hosted AC and cloud updox and keep working.

The automatic updates over a weekend are so much easier, I don't even have to get my local IT guys to get involved so much easier and smoother.

Also I was told that I could always move back to local AC at any time if I did not like the hosted AC. Would not even consider it at this point.

Hi Gerardo,

Could you let me know if you just found the board or if you received an email? Thanks.

Good to see you back.

I googled it. I do not remember getting an email, but maybe it went to the spam folder.

Thank you Gerardo, I don't like tinkering too much with all of the computer stuff, and I like to keep things as simple as possible. I liked the idea of the hosted AC as described by Indy, and got to a deeper understanding with all of his posts. I just decided to go with the AC hosted because of it being a much larger entity. Also if I do directly link to AC hosted with my chromebook I do have to type in everything as I cannot use dragon with the chromebook. Not a major problem for me on the weekends, vacation or as a backup in the office.
