We got upgraded to ver 10.1.4 2 days ago. Unfortunately, the msg box "refresh' problem is still not fixed. I don't know whether it needs more auto-refresh or less auto-refresh.
Let me explain: lets say I see a chart for XYZ in the provider box sent by my nurse because XYZ is in office ready to be seen. I double click on XYZ to open his chart. Meanwhile, another nurse has sent ABC's chart to providers as well. Me double clicking on what I think is XYZ seems to refresh the provider box and XYZ's 'position' in the provder box moves since ABC has now come in and even though I clicked on XYZ, ABC's chart opens and then ....confusion ensues till I realize what happened. This is happening multiple times a day. Did NOT happen when we were on version 9.1
WTF! AC: FIX IT!

The so called "message box problem" is actually several problems related to messages.

Reminders do not appear in chronological order (so for example, if you send yourself a reminder about a patient to appear 5/22/2019, it appears farther up in the message cue, perhaps two weeks earlier and out of sight).

Sometimes messages when forwarded appear to be blank. This most consistently appears for us when I send a message to staff and cc myself (so that I can then send the message to the patient's chart, to document that I made the request).

These were supposed to be fixed in 10.1.4 as well. I know that not everyone noted these issues; I wonder if they have actually be corrected.

Anyone using 10.1.4, is the "Run-time error '5' Invalid procedure call or argument" bug fixed (usually occurs when changing from Outbox to Inbox)?

It is better in 10.1.6 but still there. I have been using that version for a couple of weeks. When searching a message with patients last name, the screen does not renew once the message has been sent. Sometimes, if not careful, even though you see the patient on the screen, you end up responding to a wrong patient's message.

I can't understand why a bug that actually increases the likelihood of posting a message to the wrong patient's chart, is not a priority to fix.

Can some one clarify what the difference is between messages that are in the in box and those which are in the "Show patient messages" folder are they the same messages. And if so if I address the "Show patient messages" folder do the messages in the in box get deleted.

The patient messages, as well as all of the items in the "middle column" are a subset of the messages in the "first column" which would be the inbox. So yes, if you click on the box after dealing with the message to delete, it will be gone from the inbox. If you have a fair number of things in your inbox, it can be helpful to limit it to charts or messages

The outbox is what you have sent to others. I'm not sure how you delete them, you can retrieve or modify them. If you retrieve them, yes, they are pulled out of the inbox of the person you sent them to. This is useful if you accidentally send a message or a chart to the wrong person, or if you have more information than you originally put in the message

The Outbox is messages sent to other users that have not been read yet (or just clicked on by the user). That box should clear itself as the receiving users read the message. It's handy to see who has/hasn't been paying attention to your messages. Also good for retrieving messages you sent to the wrong person.

So in the out box file. I have many messages, most are highlighted in yellow. Does that mean those messages have not been looked at? Also are you saying that once the recipient opens the message, the message will self delete from my out box file?

Thanks

The yellow messages are your Reminders. Yes, messages will auto-delete out of that outbox when they are read.

Are you saying that there are messages in the out box which are highlighted yellow
and those are for me? How did they get there? Is it possible that when I generate a message I will at times have a reminder be sent to me. Are those reminders ending up in the out box? Also if the highlighted messages are reminders for me how do I delete them?

Thanks

I can confirm this has become an issue since we upgraded to 10.1.6. Such a weird bug. I keep deleting the wrong messages. You have to manually refresh before doing anything with messages. It is like it updates in the background, but the actual onscreen messages doesn't get updated. Agree it needs a fix ASAP.

I hope Mark or Chris or someone else from AC will weigh-in on these message issues.

When we upgraded to 10.0.2 last year, we reported issues with loss of content in messages. Later, I discovered some problems with the way reminders were appearing in the inbox (out of order; showing up on the wrong dates).

We were anxious for a fix but did not upgrade until we got confirmation that the issues were resolved. Are they? Are people using 10.1.6 without problems?

Dru, reminders (the yellow highlighted messages) should not be in the outbox -rarely, if ever. The only exception would be if you got a reminder, sent it to someone else, and they did not open it yet.
You should not have lots of reminders in your inbox unless you are somehow (accidentally?) creating them.

David, can you explain what you mean in more detail?

Not sure this is the same issue, but it does apply to reminders in your inbox. So basically, I think messages are refreshing in the background with AC, BUT they are not refreshing on the screen. So the message you are responding to is NOT the one you see on the screen. For instance, you think you deleted a message, but if you didn't refresh right beforehand, you could have deleted a chart or a lab result. I've done it MANY times since upgrading. This really needs to be fixed, because it is a PATIENT CARE ISSUE, when you think you are deleting one thing, but something very important was actually deleted. Please fix AC ASAP. I'm happy to show anyone at AC what I'm talking about if they do not understand the issue and how important it is to get this fixed.
