When importing items, for example, patient "James Smith" may register at the lab as "Jim Smith".
I have added that alternate spelling to "Alias/Nickname" tab in the More Info tab in DEMOGRAPHICS however it still does not recognize.
Please advise.

We used to put the patients preferred name in parenthesis after their first name (worked great) but now the ( and ) characters hang up the billing software we are using so we put the preferred name in the yellow sticky note area of their chart on the most recent encounter page... it just sits there without deleting
