When I open the NewCrop EPCS window, I am unable to click on and view other windows on the desktop. I may be showing my age here, but sometimes I can't recall the destination pharmacy and would like to be able to click on the original message to view it.

Is anybody else having this issue? If so, can anything be done to correct this behavior, or is there a workaround?

Well, I am not sure if I will answer your question, but you can't completely blame that on NC. Many programs will have windows that grab the front of the desktop.

You can minimize NC, but you will still have the problem of the AC windows being "in the back."

Right-click on the taskbar and select Task Manager. Find AC and right-click, select expand. Right click on any window you want to see or even just AC. Select Switch to or Bring to front.

The task of selecting pharmacies is sometimes complicated. They are working on it. Generally, my CMA will set up all the scripts and the pharmacy.

AC is pretty much unique in the EMR world with NC. It is an over and back system. If you do it in AC, it will be that way in NC and vice versa. Which I actually like.

But, it may be easier to look at the message and see CVS Main St, select the med or type it in the script writer. Get to the point where you choose a pharmacy if the correct one isn't selected. Select the pharmacy and send the script. Of course, you will get an error message, but the pharmacy will be selected now. Go to EPCS and you are all set.

Thanks - appreciate the workaround.

Using task manager to bring windows to the front was brilliant! Unfortunately, interacting in the window (once brought forward) is disabled so I'm unable to scroll down a message.

Our CMAs also loaded Rxs for EPCS, but I don't think the pharmacy was able to be set, at least with the version we had a couple of months ago. Perhaps the latest version has fixed that. I've taken over all controlled substance refills from start to finish, since I had to do almost as many clicks to sign the Rx as it was to load the refill and sign the Rx. Seemed inefficient to have us both doing the first part.

Click on name to get in order from 1 to 7. So easy I can't believe your MA didn't see it, lol.

Bert - thanks very much for putting in so much work and outlining the steps.

I do hope NewCrop makes it easier at some point to have support staff pre-select the destination pharmacy with each prescription, without having to modify a list in patient preferences. Many (most?) of our patients use multiple pharmacies, depending on the drug, and often switch between them.

Mark,

I am on their advisory board. I work directly with the person who is in charge of this. She is well aware of how difficult it is and has even remoted in and watched our work flow. She realizes how cumbersome and complicated it is. She tries very hard to simplify it, but it takes weeks to change. Plus, she does not have complete say.

Having said that, I agree. I think what led to this was in the beginning, this was a supplement to writing scripts without the streamlined version we have. Then EPCS forced us all to go this route so that we are subject to it vast confusion.

In short, you are right. smile
