We just did upgrade to v.10.0.2. It works more slow. Every now and then we get a message <Can't connect to database> then it reconnects. Something slows it down. We have peer-to-peer network, 7 computers. Only 3 AC users at the same time. The main computer is i7, 16 Mb RAM and has enough free space.

Totally in agreement, AC has been slowing down for years, every new version a bit more lag than prior.

I recently reviewed an old video I made of AC version 6 to train new staff. I was so surprised on how promptly the windows opened & closed that I had to check if the video was somehow running speeded up. It wasn't, I am just accustomed to AC version 10 allowing a sip of coffee after clicking a window to open.

AC development always had a massive fail in sweating the small stuff, fixing the bugs and improving the feel. A million seconds of wasted time -- I could have retired a few years ago.

I don't know that I have ever heard from an AC client - this version is faster.

I look back over many of years of development, and there is an inverse correlation between government requirements and performance, which isn't surprising.

The other thing that I have NEVER HEARD - This new government mandate improves patient care significantly!

It's too bad those of us who have given up on complying with MIPS etc can't switch off those functions.

A long, long, long time ago circa version 5.x, I told JB that the most demanded function from users was a TURBO button that turned off ALL government mandated "meaningless use".

When he came out to Tahoe, we all told him in person.

Back when the earth, [and we] were younger.

Wonder from a programming perspective how difficult that would be?

The slowness of the program now forces me to take my work home to complete it. It reminds me of writing paper charts late at night. Is there any benefit to upgrading our hardware? I currently have i5 processors on the laptops with Win7Pro.

Slow performance is significantly affecting my job performance. Yesterday I had seen 23 patients and I was only able to finish 1 office note during the office visit. I contacted AC guardian support last week. No response. I will attempt to resolve this issue. If slow performance doesn't not improve, I would have to change Amazing Chart to another EMR.
PS I have been using Amazing Charts since 2006

It is 2:30am and I just finished my office notes. In 5 hours I would need to wake up to go to work. It is just ridiculous. I won't be able to continue this for too long.

We are using 10.0.2 and it is minimally if at all slower than 9.
Something else is going on - talk to support!
Don't give up on AC over this.

There has to be something going on that may be unique to your setup. I have not experienced any slowing down. Running AC off local server with 5 workstations and 1-2 laptops. V10.0.2 speed is the same as previous before upgrade.

Hi apricot,

I have had a similar experience the above posters. We went from Amazing Charts version 8 up to 10. If anything, v10 is actually faster than v8 had been.

Amazing Charts technical support may be helpful, or it may actually be a problem with your computer, network, or so forth. Tech support usually limits their involvement to issues directly involving Amazing Charts, not issues with operating system and network.

There are some phenomenally knowledgeable tech people on this board. Sandeep (whom we use) and Indy come to mind. Either may be willing to log into your system and evaluate and/or troubleshoot. I believe their prices are very reasonable considering their degree of knowledge.

Additionally, if you are actually having a problem with your operating system, network, or so forth, you may switch electronic medical records and find similar problems with the new system.

In our experience, deactivating the "QoS" (sometimes part of a "WiFi Multimedia" tab) wireless setting in the router panel (which tends to favor certain kinds of network traffic over others, such as video and gaming) made a dramatic difference in the network efficiency, and in the perceived speed of A.C. in particular. Other kinds of network traffic, such as web browsing, did not typically seem much affected either way.

Anyone looking for a possibility to speed things up a bit should check this setting and make sure that QoS is off.
