Hi, I have a solo practice and am licensed for 1 doctor. Amazing Charts won't allow me to have another doc active while I am an active user. So when I take a day off and hire someone to cover for me what do I do? Do I have to deactivate myself before I leave for the day? I have a few docs and ARNPs in my community who I call on to cover me. It is usually a different person every time. My current plan is to just create a sign-on for them, but not make them a full provider (so then I would sign all the charts when I get back). Problem with that is then they can't do E-prescribing. I guess they can just write a paper Rx for the one day I am gone. This wasn't a problem ten years ago with Amazing Charts. Just the last year or so it has become a problem for me.

Yes, the rules have changed. You would need to contact AC, but my understanding is that AC requires a license for each provider added to the system.

Thanks Indy. I may give AC a call (or just work around it myself). I am sure I am not the only one with this issue.

You aren't the only one.
$1300 plus per year to let a substitute provider work for a few days a year is a little steep. Not in my business plan.

I don't recall the details, but I think we paid $295 for a locum license last year.

What AnneMarie is describing, though, is a one-week thing. I agree with everything said above, but it is kind of a slippery slope. Maybe they should take a percentage of his or her earnings. My FNP NEVER works a day that I do, so it is basically one license. But, how does AC do it. This person has a NP two days, so no charge. This person is 2 1/2 days so, full license.
