When installing the latest version of AC, the process makes it to "Setting file permission" then the install appears to stall there for several minutes, then a run time error pops up, or a "recredential data base has stop working error" pops up.

Any Ideas in how to resolve this would be appreciated.
Also can I uninstal AC from the control panel then attempt to instal new update without losing the entire program from my server?

Recredential database process is one of the last processes that executes. This process is essential for setting up security for your data. If this fails then Amazing Charts will not be able to read the database.

One thing that is easy, that you can try is to simply restart the computer and run the install again. If you want to self-diagnose further, open your Amazing Charts directory and the Logs sub-directory. Open the RecredentialDatabase log file found there. Go to the end of the log file and work your way up to see if it shows what failed. If no log file exists, then you have some type of permissions issue where the Recredential Database process cannot write a log file. Double check permissions for this directory that Everyone has full permissions.

Beyond this CS will need to investigate the problem. Let them know what you have done so far and have the Log file for Recredential Database available.

Also, you can uninstall and reinstall without any problems. However, I am not confident it will fix the Recredential Database issue. The reason why I say this is because by the time Recredential Database executes, the install has completed 'successfully' and is now running an external process to set security on the AMAZINGCHARTS SQL instance and your database. The reason I force the install to fail if Recredential fails is as I described above, without the security set correctly, Amazing Charts cannot read your data.

Also, I understand that 'setting file permissions' is a pain, it is a sore spot for me that I wish I could make better in the upgrade experience. The more files in sub-directories, the longer setting file permissions takes.

Thanks I will give it a try this Wednesday. I believe restarting the server should help. The last version went well without any glitches I don't see why this one shouldn't do the same. I will let you know what happened.

Well restarting the computer did not work. I corresponded with Chat support and explained my impass with 10 and they said that the problem was an easy fix and requested to stream in to the server. They did so. Not only weren't they able to get passed the impass but they corrupted the 9 and had to move the EMR to a client computer so I could wipe the hard drive so I could start all over with the program. While I have done this and now I need to move the program back, but it seems they want to charge me to upgrade to 10 when what I am asking for is to help me fix the problem they had a hand in. I attempted to re-install 9 but I need a code. Apparently the one I have was good only for a day when I first started with AC. Any suggestions at this point would be greatly appreciated.

You will need to get the install codes from AC.

Having to wipe the drive is EXACTLY the reason why several of us recommend virtualizing your AC server install, as you can go right back to the clone/snapshot you take before you attempt the upgrade.

I will tell you that a 9.1 install is statistically more problematic than 9.4.3.

Once you get AC operating again, I encourage you to backup/image the ENTIRE server so you can rollback if you run into problems in the future.

Thanks Indy for the advice. What program would you recommend to image the server. I had used what I believe was "Reflex" program to create an image but when it cam to restoring it didn't work. But I certainly want to try again perhaps with a different tool.

Not sure if you mean Macrium Reflect. It is a pretty solid backup program. Not sure why you had problems with that.

I wouldn't pay to have them install it. AC makes it rather clear that you don't need to pay for help with the install if there are issues with the install.

Sounds like Daniel is really trying to help, but his explanation is way over my head. smile

Hi Dru any updates to your install issue? I also am stuck trying to install Amazing Charts 10.0.1 , "ERROR 27052. Could not connect to Miscrosoft SC SERVER (local) Amazingcharts (DBNETLIB) Coennection Open SQL Server does not exist or access denied." Now when I try to reinstall it is asking for a license code.
Does anyone know if AC support is available on Sunday? Monday have a packed schedule and want to resolve this ASAP. Should have listen to my wife and just paid for AC to upgrade cry

We just upgraded to amazing charts 10.0, and the upgrade was successful on all terminals except for one Windows 10 Pro computer where it keeps on asking for installation of the Microsoft.net 3.5. I downloaded it from the Microsoft website, but it is not installing and keeps giving me error code 0x800F081F

Yesterday, I spent 2 hours with Ryan from Amazing Charts technical support and he was unable to install it and he told me to reset the computer/reinstall Windows 10 Pro.

Does anyone know of any other solution to successful install of Microsoft.net 3.5 , short of resetting the computer?

For future reference, starting a new thread will usually result in a faster reply.

First you will need a Windows 10 install disc. If you don't have one, you can download it directly from Microsoft using the Media Creation Tool. (You don't need a physical disk, an ISO/disk image is fine.)

Mount the Disc (either by inserting the disk or opening the ISO)

Open an elevated command prompt and enter the following command:

Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFX3 /All /Source:D:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess

here D:\ refers to the location of your DVD/CD Drive. Check This PC to make sure you are using the correct drive letter.

Isn't .Net Framework 3.5 already included in Windows 10 and you just have to go into Windows features and check the box to turn it on?

It is but it sounds like the Windows source files may be corrupted. Otherwise AC Support would be able to install it.

frown Came in tonight to try and update to version 10 but no luck on the main computer.....some error about cannot connect to database....will wait for AC support to return in the AM and log in for help.....I take off of Thursdays so wanted to wait for a day without patients but hopefully won't be a long fix so I don't have to pay for staff to do nothing! Will post here after I talk to guardian angel.
