Has it finally happened?

This message was pushed to my AC message box yesterday...
"Amazing Charts is pleased to announce the general availability of our new Version 10 software offering the latest ONC certification.

Please double-click on this message in the inbox above to display more information and instructions on how you can receive version 10.

Important: Version 10 is a mandatory update due to new e-prescribing security requirements. You must update by October 1st, 2018 to avoid disruption in your e-prescribing capabilities.

Chris Conrad
Product Manager for Amazing Charts"

Will everyone now really be required to be on the same version of AC?

Apparently a Surescripts issue makes the change necessary, why does my paranoid side say it is Surescripts implementing a more secure datamining operation.

BTW contacted support about upgrading from 9.1 to 10, was advised the upgrade tech fee would apply even though I believe AC has to do it to credential the machine/database. I am somewhat confused thought if credentialing required it came under the basic yearly support fee and not the add-on fee.
Awaiting confirmation again from support who thinks it should work 9.1 to 10.0.1 without difficulty however been there done that didn't work.

If it is a REQUIRED upgrade **and** we are paying the GUARDIAN ANGEL fee, I think that should be included.

Not sure that is what I read on Chris' document.

1. If this is just an upgrade, i.e. installation to the same computer where your last version was, you can do it yourself from your client portal. All the information you need is there. If you need MINOR assistance or help, support will help you at no costs.

2. If you are installing to a new server, and it needs to be credentialed or you need help, AC support will remote to your computer and help with or do the installation at no charge.

3. If you attempt to install the program as an upgrade or to a new system (if this is possible -- sounds like they are moving toward it), and you run into trouble, AC support with help you at no charge.

4. If you simply need to upgrade and you schedule AC to do it for you, they will do so, but they will charge you to do the install either for the server, the server plus five clients, after which there is a charge per client.

One cannot expect a company to remote into all of its users' networks and install their upgraded applications.

Yes, everyone will be on the new system if they wish to use ePrescribe. In a lot of ways this will be good as everyone will be on v10 or 10.1 with SQL Server 2012. This will make it much easier for tech support to provide support to versions beginning from square one. As it is, they are supporting many versions of AC.

I hate to say this, but I would never feel confident with an answer from an IT person where you have to wait for confirmation.

Why not go right to the top and go with what Chris Conrad wrote in the message. Not sure if everyone clicked on the message in the Inbox, not just read it at the bottom. If you click on the actual message subject from ADMIN, it will open to a much nicer page with more information. From Chris:

"There is no fee if you attempt to do the upgrade yourself and encounter a problem, nor is there a fee if you?re installing Amazing Charts on a brand new computer and need some help."

Upgraded a few days ago to version 10.0.1 myself. Very easy and encountered no issues. Not really seeing much in the way of new features that I am using. It's nice to have the list of meds and immunizations updated however.

Exactly. I think that Chris mentioned that 10.1.1 will have more features.

One feature I like is being able to "send to portal" when I sign off on labs, etc. However, the interface is very rough and it looks very "beta."
1. It doesn't talk with updox, so it says the patient doesn't have a portal account, even though they do. "Do you want to create one?"
2. Next, it says, "A portal already exists!" I had to call them, as it sounds like something isn't working right, but they said that's just the way it is. If the receptionist goes into demos and "creates portal" then it won't say that. I said, "So have my receptionist go into 3000 accounts and create them one by one?" "Well, maybe you can do it at check in."
**mad** another unprofessional feature and silly work around. That's been my course with AC for the last 9 years. So tired of work arounds that never get fixed.
