There are a few things the prescription writer could use:
1. When it is open, it would be great if we had two buttons at top right. One to close completely and one to bring you back to the fresh prescription writer.
2. Surescripts really needs to allow QS or Quantity sufficient as one of the choices. This is one of the best things that can be done to let the pharmacist do his or her job. We now have top write 90 day supply. So, I wrote a script for two pills a week which I calculated as 2 times 12 = 24. But, the pharmacist calculates as only 84 days, therefore rejected. So, I do what I always do. I write dispense 1, then in the note section write Quantity sufficient. QS is one of the biggest ways to infer how much you want dispensed.

I agree, QS would be nice. I have been able to just put a number ("1" or "3") then in the notes to the pharmacy type "QS 3 mos please." It usually goes through correctly, although infrequently patients wind up with only 1 or 3 of the item.

Yeah, I do the same thing. Unfortunately, it isn't an AC or NC thing. Surescripts has to change it. Another annoying one is boxes. If I write for albuterol, 2 boxes, I have to write Disp: 2 boxs. I always write boxes in the pharmacy message, so I look less stupid than I am.
