Hi,
I keep receiving the following email from NewCrop:
Dear Doctor
Your Certificate will expire on 26/Jan/2018. Please consider this your 7 day notification.
IF YOU DO NOT RENEW YOUR CERTIFICATE BEFORE THE EXPIRATION DATE, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TRANSMIT CONTROLLED RXS.
To renew your certificate:
Log into the Profile Manager: Please select to log in and renew your credential. Select My Certificate from the menu on the top left hand side. Choose View/Request Certificate. Reissue the Certificate. (This will renew the certificate for the next calendar year.) Once the Certificate is approved, you will receive a confirmation email. Approval happens within 24 hours of reissuance.
Note: All questions or issues must be referred to your EMR. Exception: Contact NewCrop if your EMR is not providing EPCS set-up support. Do not, under any circumstances, contact Verizon directly.
Has anyone received such message? I contacted AC, their tech person said I need to pay NewCrop subscription fee of ~$120/year and this can be done in the admin section of Amazingcharts. The thing is I never pay this ever since I use AC many years ago. Is this something new?
Thanks in advance for any reply

Cindy,
We have an ongoing discussion regarding this topic under "E-Rx treatment with Exostar, as Verizon will no longer support Controlled E-Rx" under the General Discussion area.

Thank you, Jimmie. Yes, I just realize this. I do not use EPCS, I just use paper. And patients do not have any problems with that.

You bet. Others can chime in, but you should be fine I think, if your state is like mine where EPCS is not mandatory. If you want to do EPCS, then you have to go through the vetting process with Exostar.

Sooner or later everyone will have to use EPCS. It's just a matter of time. It may be cool with your patients, but just from my perspective, EPCS is sooooo much easier.

Thank you, Jimmie and Bert. I do not want to change to EPCS unless I have to.

I think I may have given you wrong information. First, you do not have a choice on changing. You will have to change from Verizon to Exostar at the end of February. It will be about double the cost of Verizon.
This is a difficult one. Exostar will be prorated, but you may get the Verizon price until then. AC is correct in that if you don't pay it, you will not be able to EPCS. Note that EPCS is different than ePrescribe as it allows you to send controlled substances electronically.
If you are not sure if you are using EPCS, then you probably never paid for it. It would seem weird though if you were receiving an annual bill. If you are using Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances, then you paid for it.
As to ePrescribe, you won't get billed separately, but you have to have support to use it.
