How does everyone else handle "read" and "unread" patient messages in Updox? We send all lab results, statements, and other information to patients through Updox, then we either get a "read" or "unread" response. We have been saving these all, but honestly it's getting to be too much to handle with 9 providers. How does everyone else handle this? I know they are "saved" in Updox, but honestly when you go to search, it always times out, I assume because we have so many items. Thanks for any opinions or help.

David,

What are you looking to achieve? I can see saving the read messages to the AC chart if you are looking to document their read of the message - is that part of your process?

Based on my conversations with practices, they are more interested in those reminders that come back when a message isn't read. That typically requires additional staff work to follow-up and get the patient to read their messages. That then becomes a question of the most efficient workflow for the practice.

Actually looking for both. It seems medicolegally best to save all read and unread. Of course unread will need work to track down and make sure any actions were completed. Wish this could be automated, especially saving "read" messages to AC automatically. Would save us a TON of work.
