Over this past weekend something went bonkers with the in situ AC backup on the server it didn't successfully do the backup but kept trying every 30 seconds. Came in Monday with over 2000 error messages in my Inbox. Did a cleanup old backups then reset the backup to run which it did successfully yesterday.
Does anyone know how to set the time frame to a longer interval for 'retry backups' so that I don't have to delete 2000 messages if this happens again?

This is what we call the AC backup death spiral.

Once it starts, there is no easy way to stop it until it completes a backup.

So, you have to clear disk space, let it finish, then remember to reset the backup time, because it will reset to when the backup completed - almost always in the middle of clinic hours.

Also know with the newer versions, this will often delete one of the essential XML files, which means AC won't run. You will have to get everyone logged off, run a repair, and typically that will recreate the XML file.
