As it stands, my database has grown and each complete backup is about 5 gig. I have the AC off site backup utility, I back up to my D: drive nightly, and I run a server with dual hard drives continuously mirroring themselves. AC also backs up "right where it is" on the C drive. By my calculations, I have 5 backup copies of my database at any given time in addition to the original database. I have a small program deleting old backups off of the C. drive (I keep the last 10 days). However there are times when my C Drive space becomes limited and I manually have to go in and delete some of the older backups. Of course this comes up in the middle of a busy Monday and prevents all users from working for 10 minutes or so, while I fix the issue.
So, Is there a way of turning off the "backup where it is" option? Is it possible to move my database straight to the D: drive, and get it off of the C all together? (thereby saving C: drive for program files and other documents)
Does anyone do anything else to conserve C-drive space?
Thanks, Aaron Way, D.O.

I'm by no means the computer guru on here, but it sounds like you need to consider a bigger hard drive. Using your numbers you are only using 50 GB of space for backups. I am using dual 1 TB hard drives which really aren't that expensive these days and is the minimum recommended by AC.

I agree with Randy. Also, it also sounds like you have a good, redundant back-up system. Why not set your auto-delete program to delete all of the "in place" back-ups (rather than saving the last 10). I don't think there is any way to stop them from being created in the first place (though I think I heard that AC is going to get rid of the "mandatory" back up).

I am confused. Do you have five copies of your database or ten? Ten if way too many. I would stick with two or three.
You can use Amazing Utilities to move your SQL databases to the D: drive. It's fairly straightforward, but I would make sure you are completely backed up.
Is there any reason, you can't just uninstall AC, and install it to the D: drive? There is no law that says you have to install to C:\Program Files.
Finally, I am not sure how this is happening in the middle of a Monday. Your previous backup should have been Friday (I hope not the weekend). Therefore, you know at the beginning of the day to check how many are there.
Why does it take a long time to fix the problem. No one even needs to know you are doing it. You can be in room 1, remote to the server, and open the BACKUP folder and delete any or all. Or just map that folder to your computers, and delete in what....10 seconds?
