Hi All... We are looking at moving our AC operation to the cloud vs our current server based version. Among the list of pros for making this switch is the hope that our AC will fail less frequently and operate more quickly.

Can anyone who has made the switch tell me how that has gone for you? Did it deliver all that you hoped for?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Brandy,
I switched close to two years ago now. It has been perfect. 0 problems. No concerns about needing to be a network geek. I love being able to get on from home so easily. There is certainly a cost involved but, in my case, it is about the same or less than I was paying my IT guy. My only warning is that it is important to log off from AC when you are done and don't just hit the x to close the program. If you just hit the x, then the next time someone signs on, the program just opens right up without a password!
Have no fear. It will remove a lot of anxiety.

Feel free to PM me if you want to talk about it some more.
Bill

Brandy,

I am very pleased since making the switch to AC in the cloud over a year ago. Upgrading is painless, just being sure to be logged off after touching base with AC IT support staff, and then a phone call from them when they are done, usually less than an hour. Being on the cloud has taken the local IT support out of the picture for me, and less worries of trying to get local and AC IT support on same page.
Another interesting feature of AC in the cloud I never thought of before till this happened, but I have a partner who still uses AC local server, and we lost electricity at the office, he was out of town trying to remote in to do some work and could not. I could work painlessly from home, even though there was an electrical outage at the office at the same time.
For me I have not noticed any negatives that would keep me from making the same decision if I had to do it all over again, would in a heart beat. However once in awhile I will double click too quickly or my nurse will, and the dreaded black box will appear and then a quick call or message to IT support to have the server rebooted fixes this.
I agree with Bill, even though there is a higher monthly cost with the cloud I think there will be less cost with hardware overtime.

Thank you both for the feedback (and helpful tips!) We are making the switch this weekend so this makes me feel more secure in the decision! smile

How did your transition to the cloud go? I am considering the same thing. Everytime we have an update our network goes haywire, Angels spend hours fixing it.

How about speed of switching from tab to tab in AC? Is the cloud speed slower than local server - ethernet - desktop?

If someone wants to test out how AC runs remotely, we have one of our managed instances running a AC demo that we can provision a user access to if you want to "kick the tires". This allows you to test from where you are looking to run it, so it is a good indication of how it will run with your network and Internet connection.

In the case of folks who are seriously considering it, we can do a restore of your DB (less imported items) so that you can get a real good feel.

Just shoot me a PM.
