Has anyone else had a problem with AC on a Windows 10 client where AC unexpectedly closes when hitting the Write Scripts button or the Print Orders button? Here are the facts-> AC 9.1.0 on Server with Windows Server Essentials 2012 R2 4 client computers: 3 hard wired, 1 wireless to server. Cat 6 cable, 100/1000 switches, wireless is N The 3 wired clients are 1 Windows 7 Pro, 1 Windows 8.1 Pro, 1 Windows 10 Pro The wireless client is Windows 10 Pro. The Windows 7 and the Windows 8.1 clients have never had this problem, only the Windows 10 clients. Happens intermittently on the Windows 10 clients maybe 4 patients a day. Thankfully AC has the 'Would you like to resurrect your last note' function or I'd really be Ape-[censored]. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

AC has been acting a little quirky on my laptops for a while. I would all of sudden get a message that AC needs to be closed and will shut down. Happens infrequently and has not noticed it on the write Rx button. Do not remember it happening with the print button. I will keep an eye out on when it is happening. A little of annoyance because you have to start AC back again. It's only the windows 10 laptops.

I just contacted AC support about this exact same issue last week. I have to restart AC, and most of the time it fortunately then resurrects the incomplete chart. However this only happens on my 2 laptops and not my desktop. They suggested that I remove all deleted items and unreconciled orders from 2013 and 2014. That did not help and I will be contacting them again on Monday. I would say it has only happening about the past 4 months or so although we upgraded to Windows 10 a year ago. Very frustrating.

The message that I get comes in a box that states "AC has stopped working.." and I will have to restart the program. It does not always resurrect the old note. This is a problem because if you delete the forwarded chart after it is opened you have to then go to the "deleted messages" to get the forwarded chart but information entered after opening the chart is gone.

I have had these issues with AC on client computers for a while. I uppdated to Windows 10 last year, had to go re-install Windows 7 on all. I recently upgraded again hoping the problem will be gone but it is still there. Randomly, when I click on write a pscript button, AC stops working and shuts down. Once it did not resurrect the note. Any help from anyone will be appreciated. I am running AC Version 9.2. Thanks in advance.

Raj1, I guess I wouldn't open the chart from your inbox and then delete it. Maybe keep them and delete them later.

I guess you could try two things. First, try right-clicking on the icon and choosing to run it in Win 7. And, change the drivers on your Network card to factory specs.

I reached out to AC support. They think some windows files required by AC were deleted or not installed by new Windows 10 install and installed Microsoft Visual C++2008 Redistributable (VCRESDIT_86) files and we will see how it goes tomorrow.

One of the frustrating things about helping to troubleshoot problems is not getting feedback as to what happened when you try them. In order to take the next troubleshooting step, it is imperative to know what happened when the suggestions were tried or even if they were tried.
For example, what happened in compatibility mode? What happened on a particular machine after installing the latest drive for the network card from the manufacturer? Win 10 also downloads updates automatically. Any new updates or roll ups prior to the problem? You can download new updates.

Have you tried upgrading to v10 for the "server?" Have you tried changing the compatibility mode. Have you looked at your updates, specifically: We encountered a network transmission issue with update KB3189866 published on September 13, 2016, and the quickest way to address this issue was to reissue the update to all Content Delivery Networks. This new update KB3193494 has the same set of fixes as KB3189866. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Here is a list of improvements, patches and fixes for Windows 10: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12387/windows-10-update-historyNote the fix for KB3189866 which breaks some network connectivity. This is fixed by KB3193494. Many times people just download and install updates. At times, when you are having issues, it can help to see which KB has known issues and does it have a fix. Just like new versions and updates fix certain things on programs and causes other bugs, updates can do the same. In fact, if there are over 15 updates, I tend to only do 15 at a time, run the server for a week, then update the rest. While updating your network drivers to the manufacture ones may help, this may take care of it. Remember, the issue seems to resolve around a step in the program that requires network transmission of data. When updates are selected for client machines, many times they will find drivers for NIC cards and printers. Drivers that have been working for months. I try to not install those especially since I don't want to install an HP driver with a Windows one.

I have only been working with AC Guardian angel support and did not try any of the above (Bert's) suggestions. They think AC cannot find a file in Windows 10 and that causes the crash. They created a new user account on one PC and I will see how that works tomorrow.

Doubtful that the network drivers would break anything. Have you tried looking at the updates that Windows downloaded. Especially the one I wrote. (this came from Microsoft). Check and see if the good ones have similar updates.
Are you able to do a system restore?
Not sure about Windows 10, I am not smart enough to use it. But, the other disks you can run it again (not reinstall it), but run it and correct any errors.
Finally, take an Ethernet cable and run it directly from the problem computer to your main computer and see if it works. That would help narrow it down considerably if it worked.

This could also be a SQL issue. I would be glad to pass this along (as usual) to my friend who could take a look.

I changed properties of AC to run in Windows 7 compatibility mode and installed manufacturer drivers but the AC continues to crash when prescription button is clicked on. AC support tells me the problem is with my PCs / environment. I am a bit lost.

I would ask them why it works on 99% of everyone else's Windows 10?
I can have my friend take a look for you.

May I ask for your friends contact info? I am thinking of just going back to Windows 7. AC crashes several times a day and notes are being lost (have to retrieve from deleted items). Thanks Naeem Sajjad

tried to connect the 'problem computer' directly to the server with a network cable and as AC was loading I got the error message ... the version of Amazing Charts on the server does not match the version on this computer.... what? versions are identical so took the problem computer back into the exam room reconnected to the server through the router and AC loaded up as normal. And for some extra excitement after that event went to my main client computer in my office( a computer((Windows8.1Pro)) that has never had a hiccup with AC or server) went to finish some charts went to print some orders and got the dreaded...'Amazing Charts had to shut down message.
Hey Bert you just have a birthday or do you just like cake icons?

To my knowledge, I am the only one vain enough to tick the checkbox for AC to put the cake up. Hell as the admin, I should go in randomly and not only tick the checkbox, but make it for a different day. So, be looking for that, lol.
Think of the positive. You are the first to ever take my advice to hook directly to the server. Very cool. But, look where it got you. Unbelievable.
I guess you could RDP into the main computer if it is not being used and run it that way for the time being.

Just had my birthday Oct 20 got to the big 65, turned out to be a 3 day event of sorts now behind the 8 ball because for the past 3 weekends I have been doing things other than office catch-up. Best present was getting Medicare and supplement now my deductible and copay go down to $0 was $6800 and 20% and I'm saving $200/mo on premiums and hopefully don't have to use it although the knees are barking I am going full first penguin downloaded Windows 10 anniversary edition will see how that plays with AC and Windows Server Essentials 2012 R2 and if I really am nuts will get AC 9.3 but for time being don't want to screw-up Updox

Happy belated birthday. I doubt that anniversary edition will work because it is anniversary, more like because it is just different.

I volunteered to try Beta 9.3, could not import anything from Updox until they fixed it last week. Otherwise it is the same as 9.2. I rolled my client PCs back to Windows 7 Pro. It is a hassle but AC errors have stopped.

I think at some point we will be forced to go to Windows 10. That will be the end, because we will be forced to take all downloads. Not only that, we will be forced to do the downloads when they are available.
For instance, say you are in Exam room one, and your computer freezes. You are behind 45 minutes. You reboot. If there are updates, if will says Restarting and Updating computer. Just not a good time.
I hope what they are going to do is stay with an OS, and just add patches or roll-ups or SP1s etc., and just have that be the new OS.
It is hard for Windows or Apple to come out with a new OS and have every company with an API, etc., have the exact drivers needed. But, if Windows 10 becomes mandatory, these companies will have to have drivers ready.

On win-10 Pro you can choose when to accept the updates.
As a practical matter, i have most of our workstations accept them automatically, because it is a pain in the [censored] to remember to update.
It does slow things down sometimes.
The other thing that will happen with windows 10 is that there will be an annual charge for each computer. These annual charges are adding up -- and I don't see insurance companies increasing reimbursement to compensate for increasing IT charges.

My AC kicks me off at least twice daily. It seems to happen when signing off items or doing orders. Also, it literally took me 5 minutes to transmit a prescription to a pharmacy on numerous occasions. We are using Windows 10 on some and 7 on others. It seems to happen regardless of the windows platform. Any suggestions?

I also get kicked off randomly running window 7 pro and win 8.1. Really don't think it's a windows 10 exclusive bug.
Says "AC has stopped working and has to close". Occurs usually during orders or signing. Seems random. All since version 9.1

I get kicked off when bulk signing orders-- very occasionally -- seems to happen when several people are scanning things in to the server database all at the same time Using AC 6.3.3. Has that been a problem with 9.2?
