I just bought a new dell lap top. When I open amazing charts on it, the font size is SO SO SMALL. I know I need glasses but I can barely see it.
Can someone help me change it? I tried changing the display but it makes everything blurry. My 2011 Lenovo works with the appropriate font size.
Please help or I'll need to bust out my magnifying glass.

Dear Bkamm,

More details will let other posters help you. If it's a Windows 10 Dell laptop . . .

Right-click on the desktop.

Left-click on display-settings.

1) The top option is "change the size of text, apps, and other items xxx% (recommended)"

Depending on your system, you may be able to increase some things 100% to 125% or more.

The next option is simpler.

2) For the next option, drag the right-hand slider-bar down to scroll down the display-settings and click on "advanced-display-settings."

What's your resolution? Try a lower resolution (larger text & icons), such as 1280x768.

3) A more complicated set of options is below "resolution," namely "advanced sizing of text and other items"--you can try those.

4) If you really do need glasses but won't get them, try the Windows built-in magnifier:

Start , Settings > Ease of Access > Magnifier, and move the slider under Magnifier to turn it on.

Magnifier opens in full-screen view unless you change the settings.

Your screen is now a peep-hole that you can move around to view any portion of a screen twice as large as the original.

Cheers,

Carl Fogel

Problem is more and more screens are high res, but AC is not "high res dots per inch (DPI)" aware.

You'll note Word, Excel, IE and Chrome you can just zoom in/out and everything looks sharp and user elements are not tiny. Despite using your high res screen at max resolution.

All the other settings are helpful. I use them too, but if you change the resolution everything will be fuzzy ( not using the high dpi screen natively). If you change the display to 110 or 125% various elements will be cut off or look funny.

Can we all start reqeusting AC to be high DPI aware? Maybe they are working on it as more of us switch to high res (high DPI) screens?

I have not made the jump due to these issues and look for large screens with (low-DPI) so everything is nice and large. But it's not very sharp as a high-DPI screen would be.

Expert opinions?

I have had the same problem with my HP laptop for nearly a year. Either the resolution is so tiny it is a strain to see, or if you decrease the resolution then AC gets cut off at the bottom. No other program acts this way. I talked with the Guardian Angels. They signed on and took screen shots for the "developers". Nothing has happened. AC is a patchwork of various attempts to keep up with a changing world and it is being left behind. You can sense it in the issues that arise and the frustration of the Guardian Angels who try to help resolve problems. They have added some bells and whistles and increased the price and the marketing but I have seen no improvement in the quality of the program over the 8 years I have used it. I am usually not one to post a negative comment but I have been extremely disappointed and this issue just reminded me of that.

AC can probably do hpi-dpi support. It likely takes a lot of time and effort though.

If more of us request it, then it likely becomes more of a priority.

Microsoft could've done more too:

It's apparently a mess to fix for program developers so definitely not ACs "fault".
