I have been using AC for many years. If I have any issues, they are easy to fix, or with a little help from tech supp
I have never had any big issues with performing updates. Only now, using 8.2.4, and going to 9.1 Server 2012, and most win 8,7 and 10 Workstations. The update on the server went fiarly well, I ran the database update utility, and AC 9.1 comes up and works fine, a bit slower but working. On the workstations, multiple of them, it takes like 5 minutes and then an error comes up. "AC ver does not match main computer ver I performed this update few months ago, not sure if it was 9 or 9.1 I wasted 2 days with tech supp, gave up and went back to using 8.2.4 If this is some real BUG, I wish it was posted some where Looking for hep on this asap please. Before Monday comes around Thanks

I just had this issue last week. One laptop running windows 10 stopped running AC(v. 9.1). Normally I would setup a mapped network drive and point to that drive when AC was asking for the server folder. After reinstalling AC multiple times I would still get the same results. AC would attempt to start up but would take minutes to load (while loading it would state in the AC window "it encountered an error, would pause and reattempt to load and eventually would come up with the error you mentioned). I finally called AC support and the problem was solved. Instead of pointing AC to the mapped drive, tech support pointed AC directly to the server on the network). I hope this helps.

I doubt this will help, but maybe some troubleshooting steps. And, it makes it a little more difficult given the multiple versions.
So, looking at the download site, it does state to make sure all Windows Updates have been installed. Probably already been done.
What happens when you install 9.1 on one of the "bad" computers, but install it with SQL? My guess is it would come right up. But, it would give you some information. And, then you would have it work there, and you could then try to connect to the server. Of course, that would just be a trial to see how it worked. And, it would mean getting the key from support, since it would be a virgin computer for a new install.
The first thing I would try, though, would be to use an uninstall program like YourUninstaller! or Revo to make sure you are COMPLETELY uninstalling AC. I would always do that anyway. Maybe there are some .dll files or registry keys that are left behind which are confusing it. 9.2 should be out shortly.

I did figure it out guys. Mapped drive just does not work, the data folder needs to be a UNC
