Koby,..they answer is yes...it's that simple.....update to 9.2..have Support credential another PC in your office as a backup server. You can configure that backup server to also be a workstation if you like. If you ever nedd it then it's ready for you .enc file..no need to call us for anything.

The only thing that may make this better and maybe Chris could comment on this:
What if instead of in the even of an emergency, instead of requiring the 24-hour key, AC would install and work for, say 3 to 5 days (kinda like a trial version). Then you get the key.
Another question for Chris. If support downloads the encryption tool so you can use 8.2.4 in 9.x, but then you decide to install on another machine, will it work for that one. In other words, once you have the encryption tool, would it work for all .enc files. And, just to put this out there, if someone gets the encryption tool, would it be considered to go against the EULA if they sent it to another user?
It almost seems like the above would be like a possible new user downloading the trial version and then having it licensed afterward. And, any activation key you receive from support which would be used to install any version of AC on a virgin computer, would only be good for that computer once installed? In other words, it would be tied to that hardware?

My question was more once 9.2 comes out would it really be as simple as contact support to get a back up server certified, then whenever it might be needed to be used as 'the server' just go ahead and load the ENC back up and no need to contact support further? Even better, you could install to the backup server ahead of time, obtain the activation key, then uninstall and install your old version. You could even keep SQL installed, so the install would be much quicker.

I'd like to give AC credit where credit is due. We spoke - they listened. What Bert suggested above is the model we follow. We have a pre-installed server waiting in the wings. If our first-string server goes down, we restore the .enc file onto our backup server and are back in business. If you are using SSD drives, you shouldn't be down more than an hour or so - maybe even less, depending on the size of your data files. Anyways - thank you. I'll put my pitchfork away now

Hey, any fan of the Bruins can carry a pitchfork any day. Nice post Gianni. Didn't you tell me about a vacation you were going on about a month ago? How did it go?

Any vacation is a good vacation Right now, I'm into fishing from my kayak, and having a real blast. Thanks for asking.

So if "...A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work", what does it mean to be posting about work while fishing?

It means you love your job, but sometimes you need a break!
