I am looking for recommendations for a phone service. I have always used standard Verizon service. They have become intolerable with high cost and poor service. I know many of you have gone to VOIP. That may be an option for me with a cloud VOIP, but I do not want another system to have to maintain in office. I have also looked at Ooma which looks intriguing.

For those of you happy with your phone service, what do you use?

Donna,

Good to hear from you.

We use multiple technologies, but the one I would recommend to you that is the most bullet-proof and end-user friendly is RingCentral.

Very easy to use and setup, location independent, not to mention that it enables your phone (with their app) to call out with your office number.

Lots of value, minimal headaches. Drop me a line if you want to talk in more detail.

Reminds me - you up for Tahoe this fall? I'll be sending out an email later this month.

Thanks, Indy hope all is well with you. I'll look at RingCentral.

Tahoe would depend on the exact dates. I have some other things for the fall that are not firm as yet.

Do you know anything about Ooma? It is an in office device, but appears to be plug and play, one appealing thing is that I could use my existing phones and not have to buy new IP phones.

OnSIP is another good one to check out.

Also, don't buy new VOIP Phones. Companies sell them in bulk all the time on eBay. They move or upgrade a lot. You can get 5-10 phones for a few hundred bucks at 50-70% off.
E.g. 5 Pack

Tahoe is October 28-30. Closest airport is Reno.

Don't know anyone using Ooma.

Here is a new Cisco 303, the same phones we all use - $60 on Amazon, all you standard office phone features.

You can also add your cellphone to the line, so that you can call from your cellphone with your office number (nice trick for after-hours).

Also, you can plug the phone in where-ever there is wired Internet, I've used mine internationally over the years.

Thanks, Indy.

I've got to educate myself on this technology.

here is what happens when you get busy

The actual link:
https://www.amazon.com/Cisco-SPA-303-3-Line-Phone/dp/B0041ORNJ2/

There are less expensive phones, but this one has an excellent speakerphone, conference calling, missed call, saved numbers (directory)

The AT&T Small Business System I linked has been excellent for us. It has 4 line capacity and I really like the 32 button intercom, for calling reception, nursing, armed guards, etc. It does not require any other service - you just plug in the lines. The phone company tried to sell me a service for thousands of dollars - no thanks.
