From the SUMMARY SHEET, if you right click on a patient diagnosis it opens a window that says "Retrieve Patient Education". Clicking on this box opens a window that has printable patient education for that particular diagnosis.

Just learned this trick from Cathy at Amazing Charts.

Thanks Cathy

You can do the same thing from the script writer with the meds list (right-click and choose "retrieve Patient Education". Also if you are getting labs imported from a lab interface, open the result and right click on the individual test name to get patient education (note: The labs might throw what looks like an error.. it just means that the specific term is not searchable. Click "ok" and try a more general term in the search bar on the top left of the lexicomp page).

Hi Betty.

I just tested this with Version 9 and it does satisfy the Patient Education objective for MU. If you print an education sheet from the summary sheet before signing your visit, it will count. You would not need to click the "Patient Education Given" button.

do we still need to submit MU any more ?
I have sent in my 5 years, so they will no longer pay me anything to do it
I thought the program was completely scuttled - is it not?

2016 is the final year physicians will be subject to penalties under the meaningful use program as it?s configured now, and 2017 will be the first year physicians will be assessed based on the new advancing care information program.

Any penalties levied based on meaningful use attestations from this year would be assessed in 2018.

Basically it boils down to providers that don't attest or file an exemption in 2016 could have a payment adjustment in 2018.
