Hi MGulledge,
As of October of 2015, CMS has changed the rules for stage 2 into what is now called "Modified Stage 2". One of the major changes that happened was the reduction in actual measures you had to accomplish. The new measures are as follows:
Protect Patient Health Information (previously Core 9)
Clinical Decision Support (CDS) (previously Core 6a & 6b)
Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE) (preciously Core 1a, 1b, & 1C)
Electronic Prescribing (Previously Core 2)
Health Information Exchange (Previously Core 15b)
Patient Specific Education (Previously Core 13)
Medication Reconciliation (Previously Core 14)
Patient Electronic Access (Previously Core 7a & 7b)
Secure Electronic Messaging (Previously Core 17)
Public Health Reporting (Previously Core 16 and Menu 1)
As you can see from this list, imaging and lab results are no longer needed for Modified Stage 2. So you are no longer required to meet those specific measures.
Also no longer required are the following:
- Core 3: Record Demographics
- Core 4: Record Vital Signs
- Core 5: Record Smoking Status
- Core 8: Clinical Summaries
- Core 10: Clinical Lab Test Results
- Core 11: Patient List
- Core 12: Preventative Care
- Core 15a & c (Part B is still needed): Summary of Care
- Menu 2: Electronic Notes
- Menu 3: Imaging Notes
- Menu 4: Family Health History
