I am the IT administrator for a small office (2 providers with 6 staff total). While all the computers were able to be updated to windows successfully, about a week later, accessing the medication page on any chart from all but the main computer causes a pause for 3-5 minutes before I get an object instance not set error from windows. It has made it incredibly difficult for the providers to print scripts let alone escribe.

while before upgrading, it might take a min or so for the med page to load(as mentioned in others dicussions on this board) we never had these issues. Even stranger was the fact that it worked for a week after updating to windows 10 just fine. The only other clue I am getting is a amazing charts red message in our primary doctor's message box stating that his DEA# is expired (which it is not)
looking at the first couple of points in the error report it references a interopt.frmMeds library. so I thought it had messed with my installation of amazing charts. As far as I can tell, amazing charts itself does not even note this error occuring in its own logs.


however, I've run the amazing charts repair installation twice now, and called angel support who suggested I do that (the tech I had seemed far more concerened at the memory usage sql was using which was around 2.5 gig). however I had already hard restarted twice and manually restarted SQL which maybe fixes it for about 2 minutes. I have noticed that the main computer's hard drives is writing at full speed (6.0mb/s) but aside from the meds page, amazing charts in general works fine.
and I am under preasure to fix this before monday. aside from uninstalling sql 2012 and amazing charts and reinstalling both I don't know how to fix this. ideally I would like a solution that did not involve a lot of down time.

Have you added several of the AC domains to the list of trusted sites? that could be part of the comm break.

Is this Win10 Pro?

Have you checked the file permissions on the Meds db files?

First to redescribe the problem
When they are trying to access the medication page, their amazing charts locks up for 2-4minutes before giving the error mentioned above. Prescribers are saying e-scribing is impossible and even getting the scripts to print seems to be a challenge. Today we don't even have everyone here. During that lockup, all clients respond a lot more slowly even if it is accessing the message box or schedule.

That said, the main computers harddrive according to the task manager is going 7.6mb/s or faster where as before it would cap at 6mb/s - the hardrive inside I think has a max speed of 6mb/s (as I had stated above).


My thoughts and notes

The issue almost seems to feel like its caused by network lag(or a response from the main computer) and when the amazing charts client doesn't get that data quickly it causes that instance error. The only other thing I can think of would be the harddrive dying.

for 7 computers though I don't feel like I should be having these issues. I read Bert and Indys comments around the forum regarding SQL expresses 1gig memory limit and how that can affect the main computer but with at max 8 computers in use at any one time and the main computer doing nothing but running the server, that I should not be having these issues.

On the off chance my network configuration could be the cause, I'll attempt to describe it
ISP Comcast
The modem is a comcast combination that functions as both modem and a Router. This also is the device that handles the DNS.
Connected to this Router is the main computer, 2 voip controllers and our voice edge autoattendent (my knowledge on these is more limited) but one is for a fax line), and our switch (which does not handle DNS), a wireless extension hub, and one wireless client (the doctors in room client)

Connected to the switch are the rest of the 7 client computers and oddly another line from VOIP.
Connected to the wireless through the extension hub is one client computer(our nurse practitioner).

Both wired and wireless clients are having the issue including the main computer.
all computers network settings have network discovery on, password sharing off, and file and printer sharing on.


While I am certainly not at Indy's and Bert's technical knowledge - I consider myself pretty computer savey. Any help or suggestions would be appreciative.

Is it crashing on the server too? If so, I would uninstall and reinstall AC on the server?
If not then I would uninstall/reinstall AC on the clients?
I'm not sure if you also upgraded AC at anytime or if you were just upgrading Windows.

If you have a P2P network do you have Windows Homegroup setup? Our clients that were upgraded to W10 lost their homegroup settings and were having trouble connecting to the server. W10 also broke our Mapped Network Drive connection on our clients to the server, so we disconnected them and just pointed each client to the server during AC starting up.

I've had problems with Windows 10 as well. I installed it just on one computer, but wish I could go back. There is an incompatibility with the graphics card and no apparent fix online. Every few hours the screen will just fuzz out. I can fix it by turning the screen display off and on again, but sometimes it does it again within a few minutes. Further, I think the MS Edge GUI, and other aspects of the Windows GUI is a really poor copy of the simple elegance of OS X, as it always has been. They are a really sorry company in this regard.

I will see if making a homegroup and having all of them join it fixes the issue.

I've not had issue with graphics with windows 10. However your issue with your graphics card and driver- windows 10 automatically attempts to update the graphics driver. So you might try seeing if it grabbed the wrong one.

just got done with AC technical Support and the tech this time solved it in 20 seconds.

The issue was our med history table was so large that it was slowing everything down. us used a script witch cleared it and now its working better than it has in months.
