Hello. We currently use a private billing company. Our practice is considering the ACPM system to do our own billing. I did read a few of the posts. Does anyone have any feedback about the process and taking on your own billing using the PM system?

Thank you.

The issue is whether you have someone reasonably knowledgeable in billing, even if on retainer for training and questions.

Much of it is very straightforward, but then you get in the goofy things. Every system is different. I had outside billing and switched to MedFx and am now switching to ACPM. MedFx wasn't the most intuitive program I have used, but most billing systems aren't. Once you get used to them, they do what they need to, but often with the support of F keys and shortcuts that aren't obvious. I don't have enough experience in ACPM (which is based on MedFx) to tell you it's that much better, it seems somewhat better but time will tell.

That being said. It's not all that difficult to do billing. Tedious more than anything. Once you learn the routine, you just keep plugging at it and making sure that things don't fall through the cracks. Insurance companies love cracks. Once all that is done, you can be OK.

Again, having some insight from someone who knows billing can make the process a lot smoother.

Does anyone have comments on ACPM vs. EZclaims? I heard at ACUC that several providers have been using EZClaims for a long time. What are the pros and cons for both?

Hi Nisha,

While I rarely spend my time getting into the billing software program, my biller who is a certified coder really likes EZ Claim PREMIER. She made suggestions to Al, one of the founders of EZ Claim and gave them useful enhancement recommendations which they quickly implemented.

With version 9, I am told that you'll be able to not only transfer patient demographic and insurance information from AC to EZ,, but you'll also be able to transfer method of payment (cash, check, visa, MC, etc.) eliminated all double entry.

Wendell,

How do you like ACPM compared to MEDFX? We are currently using MEDFX. I was wondering if it reduces workload. My physican does her own coding and enter of charges. I am clinical as well as handling posting insurance payments to patient statements.

They're the same and then their different. You don't review the claims in advance like we did before, so that's a plus. They don't use F keys as much but F2 and some of the other ones still work (some don't) Once you're used to that, it's easy. You have to go to the portal to check on claim status that you didn't do in MedFx. AC's support is good, but MedFx's is better. AC is $50 less a month. One thing I preferred in MedFx is that to find a patient's insurance status you have to go to a different screen, it isn't usually on the demographic page (sometimes it is). This is rambling a bit, I know, but these are my quick responses.

What specifically makes the "Premier" version of EZClaims better than the Advanced version?

Absolutely DO NOT get the ACPM. It is not user friendly, inefficient, and ridiculously not integrated to the EMR. I would dump it if we could do so easily, and still might do so. It would be worth it to get a REAL PM system.

we had MedFx initially as they told us it would "seamlessly" transfer over to the ACPM. What a lie that was! I would not recommend any of the ACPM software. It is cumbersome, not user friendly and frankly a piece of junk. Spend some money and get a real system that works.

We are considering ACPM. Any updated reports of how well it is functioning?

Hello Gianni,

EZ Claim now has a comparison to on their website so that you can tell the difference between Advanced and Premier.
