Here's a copy of the handout I gave after one of my lectures at ACUC 2016.

Shortcuts ? all shortcuts can be accessed from within Amazing Charts via ?HELP? then ?Contents? (Press F1 as well)

Shortcuts from within Most Recent Encounter Tab

Ctrl ? N New Note
Ctrl ? X Cut
Ctrl ? C Copy
Ctrl ? V Past
Ctrl ? S Forward Chart to yourself
Ctrl ? L Log out

From Main Screen Highlight patient name

F5 General Info Demographics
F6 Summary Sheet
F7 Last Encounter
F8 Past Encounters
F9 Imported Items

Printing Medical Records by Date Range

From the main page, search the patient from the patient list.
-Highlight the patient (just click on the patients name once, do not double click to open the cart).
-Select the "Patient" option at the top of the screen.
-In the drop-down list, select "Print" towards the bottom of the list, then select "Print Encounters by date range".
-Fill out the HIPAA release and click "Save"
(Note: You still have to print out IMPORTED ITEMS separately)

FROM THE SCRIPT WRITER PAGE

Pulling Medication History (only works if patient used insurance for pay for meds)

From the Write Scripts page, Select ?Drug History? at top of the screen, then click ?Request History? (The ?Request History? box will be greyed out if the ?Patient consents to eligibility checking? is not checked)

Right clicking on a medication in the left window will:
? Allow you inactivate, remove or pull history
? Allow you to retrieve Patient Education
? Allow you to get Drug Information

MISCELLANEOUS TIPS

? Summary Page ? right clicking on a diagnosis in the problem list will open a box to retrieve patient education

? Left clicking on the ?chronicity? window next to a problem on the problem list will allow you to make a specific diagnosis acute, chronic or self-limiting (from drop down box). Selecting a self-limiting option will auto-inactivate the problem after that set time frame

? When sending a message or reminder from within Amazing Charts, hitting the first letter of the last name will allow quicker selection of name instead of using the mouse to select the name. If more than one person?s name begins with the same letter, hit that same letter multiple times to select the proper name.

? Do you find yourself constantly scrolling down to find a lab that you frequently order? Put a number next to it to place it at the top of the Orders window (done through the admin tab under ?Define Orders and Order Sets?). Select the lab you frequently order and place a numerical number to the left of the lab name then click then click save.

? Knowledge Base ? Click to get information from ?5 Minute Clinical Consult?

? CTRL ? E Enlarges text box. Make sure to press one of the UPDATE buttons or your info will not be saved

? Having problems finding new things that have been sent since the last office visit? Ie: new mammo report, consult notes? Create a folder in IMPORTED items called *New Since Last OV. The asterisk will place that folder at the top of IMPORTED items and place any new things in that folder

? Make your Chief Complaint more specific. This will allow you to more easily search notes in the future. Example: Annual Physical, School Physical

? Make sure when you prescribe a medication that will need to be refilled, it is codified (not in italics). Meds that are not codified will not match when doing refills. How do you codify a medication? Right click on a medication that is in italics from the Current Medications list in the Write Scripts page. Select Codify then select the medication. You can then chose to do this for this specific patient or all patients.

? Did you know you Drop & Drag both Excel & Word documents into IMPORTED ITEMS. They can then be edited and saved to IMPORTED ITEMS.

Right click on the provider's name on the schedule and you can put a yellow note for that day under the provider's name

Control Y from the main page to create a yellow sticky note to jot down things you want to enter later (like with Windows 7 sticky note)

Of course there are the ton's of new things in Version 9. I can tell you it's impressively faster than the last several generations.

The new AC portal page (where you get your updates) has undergone a significant upgrade.

There are a ton of good templates on the website. (I knew this, but found some I didn't know about)

Marty didn't emphasize it enough. Control S will close your chart and forward it to your inbox FAST, so you can save it and move on. Try it, you'll see what I mean.

There are a lot of things you can do with the included Portal. I knew this, but learned a lot.

The next date for a national ACUC has not been set but I think there may be one next year......
