I have AC 8.2.4 on a hyper-v machine. It has 2 processors and 32gb of ram. My SQL instance of AC gets upto 10gbs of ram usage and 99% of CPU usage. Support loged in and tells me it is a problem with the set up of hyperV and SQL. SQL is only running AC nothing else. Anyone else having similiar problems?

Satis,

How many users do you have using AC?
Are you running terminal services on the same server?
A full SQL Standard license?

I have 10 users potentially logged in at any one time.I dont see terminal services installed. Yes a full licensed SQL on server. This is a hyper V machine inside a physical server. The physical server is only hosting the hyper V machine nothing else. The hyper V machine is running SQL full for AC only. Apart from server backup no other roles or features run

Satis,

The RAM usage is about typical for that size practice, although the CPU usage is unusual for your size.

Unless the CPU usage is associated with a poorly provisioned VM, I doubt that Hyper-V is the culprit. There is the discussion that there are other virtualization platforms that are more resource efficient, but that is tangential.

Given the above, I would look first at what is using CPU, and as a secondary issue look at disk i/o. They may be related, so keep that in mind. If they aren't (low disk i/o), then first stop is determining what is eating CPU.

What is your drive setup? (RPM, RAID config, etc)

When you look at the CPU usage it shows 99% SQL as the culprit.
