Using Dragon Medical Small Practice 10.1. Makes lots of errors, but cant live without. Upgraded from 9, but no different. Was using a cheap Mic, spoke to KnowBrainer and got a Speechware USB Mic for a few hundred $. Unfortunately, quality is still lacking.
Told to upgrade to DMPE 2.2. Don't want to waste more money....
I ran the playback of audio and it sounds like what it should be typing but isn't.
Any thoughts? Any helpful trouble shooting? Is it just my old dragon.
Thanks

I purchased DMPE 2.2 and have been using it for about a month. I have been very pleased with its performance. I have very few errors and the speed is excellent. I have buddy flamingo mikes and my computers run Windows 7, with 12 GB ram and i3 processors. I have a roaming speech profile on my AC computer and it is shared by my four exam room computers. It may be worth upgrading and making sure your computer has the chops to run it.

Small practice 10.1 is good, DMPE 2.2 Works better for me. I am getting very few significant erros, I use the Philips SpeechMike. My machine has an Intel i7, 12 GB ram and now SSD. You may want to talk to know-brainer or look through his materials in order to optimize your dictation. Feel free to PM me, we might be able to talk (Actual telephone) and I could help you troubleshoot. Our rheumatologist not only uses Dragon, but he dictates in the room with the patient and finishes his notes before leaving the room. Dragon is as important to me as my stethoscope. Marlon

How does a roaming speech profile work? Do you have to have Dragon installed on all the other computers? As I understand it, Dragon only licenses 3 computers per license, and I have not figured out how to get around this.

The roaming profile is placed on a computer that is accessible by all of the computers that are running Dragon. I have installed my roaming file on the AC server, since all of my computers access that server. Nuance recommends that you install Dragon on the computer that has the shared roaming file, only for the simple reason that it is much easier to run the acoustic tuning on the file if you have dragon installed on the same computer. For me, that wasn't a good option. However, the file can be copied to one of your computers that is running Dragon, then the tuning can be performed and then the file can be copied back into the original shared directory. Dragon allows you to install the program on 4 computers. If you need additional installations (which I did, for my office computer), the additional instillation is $99. Whenever you remove dragon from a computer to transfer to another computer, make sure that you uninstall it using Windows uninstall in the control panel. Also make sure that you have an Internet connection at the time that you uninstall, so that way the Nuance server is notified that you have uninstalled the program. Then when you reinstall it, you still have an installation credit that you can use.
