If you open an addendum and write a five pagragraph message (just for emphasis) and THEN you change the Topic, do you always lose the initial addendum entry? It happened to me, and I have reproduced it over and over.
If this is true, was it true in previous versions. If you write a long addendum and the topic is already listed as "PROCEDURE," but you meant "OTHER," unless you copy and paste what you wrote in the addendum, it seems like you are screwed.
Hopefully, someone will tell me otherwise. I don't use addendums very often.

Just tried it on a test patient. As soon as I select another note type it gives me a blank screen with no offer to save previous work. I am running version 8.2.4. I have no idea if version 7 did same.

Thanks Don,
I kinda think that isn't a good thing. I tend to write the addendum first. Certainly, even if I wrote it and then thought about the issue of changing the subject, I would need to copy and paste first.
I also think there aren't enough categories, or we should be able to add our own. It's funny, because I have been using AC for quite a while, and we all come up with these suggestions, but I imagine it is hard to do every one of them.
But, that just shouldn't happen like that. I wonder why no one else has brought it up before.

This is kind of a big deal. The other thing that is a big deal is in previous versions, if i was in a patients chart and I put in the injection or procedure into the cahrt, but also copy and paste it into an addendum while the chart is open, it would open the addendum with the date and time of when you are in the chart...and you can paste and save...
now if you go to open addendum while in the chart, it deletes the chart and u lose all your work.

I reproduced it as well on 8.2.4. I submitted a bug report. Hope everyone else did. The more reports they receive, the higher the priority.

The patient's expectation is that you have all the answers, sometimes they just don't like the answer you have for them

Thanks Wendell. I agree. It either should be fixed or at least a popup message stating if you change it, you will lose the addendum. That isn't perfect, though, unless you want to stick with the category. Plus, they need more categories.
