OK, I have given this tip a hundred times, and generally I get back, "But, I just use the Windows + L combination to lock the computer, which is fine.

I use this way, which, for some, may be helpful. It is much faster, and your mouses is already there. I will go through it step by step.

1. Right-click anywhere on your desktop, select New --> Shortcut. This will give you the following window:

2. Enter the follow script: (copy and paste from here)

%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation

3. It will then look like this:

4. Click next, and you will see the file name (rundll32.exe) in the field for "Type a name for this shortcut." I generally type "Lock" or "Lock computer"

5. This will give you the file called "Lock computer" or whatever you named it.

6. Double-clicking on this will lock your computer.

7. I place it just to the right of Amazing Charts main window after the note is finished.

8. When you finish the chart, you can move your mouse to this icon and lock your computer in under a second.

9. I just find it faster, then using two hands to enter Windows + L. (I am sure you can use Hot Keys or some other macro to do this if you wish, but this is just an another method.

Extra customization if wanted:

You can right-click on the Lock icon, --> Properties --> Change icon

You will see the Change Icon window with the Browse button at the top right. Click on Browse. This will bring you to the System 32 folder. Scroll all the way to the bottom, then scroll back up slowly and you will see an icon that looks like Keys named wlmdr.exr. Click on this.

This will bring you to the Change Icon window. Click OK, OK. This will change your plain file which is named Lock or Lock computer to an icon which still is named Lock computer but now looks like keys.

I do have one more customization, but I will leave it here for the moment. I would love to know if anyone tries this and finds it useful. Like anything with instructions and PNGs, it will seem daunting at first. It is rather easy if you do each step.

Yes, I did lock this topic. The reason was I wanted it to be a tip and not a thread about other things.

Your post and its response is located here. I didn't delete your question, I simply moved it so it would get more attention and not get buried in this one. smile

It pertains to forwarding charts to a nurse's inbox.

You can post questions and replies to this topic on a new thread.

Quick way to lock the PC. We tend to use Windows + L. Maybe you can show them that you can actually hotkey it to a single key. I would show them, but you already have the shortcut.
