Using 8.2.4 getting random shutdowns of AC using my Surface Pro 2 Windows 10 when I hit the Write Scripts button, never happens from my hardwired computers but they are all Windows 7. I don't lose connection to the network, any ideas?

Since you say it never happens from your hard wired computers, I am assuming your Surface Pro 2 is wireless. (which it generally would be).
This has been an issue for years and years. If you search it, go back at least seven years. I wouldn't even call is an issue. Wireless computers are going to lose connection from time to time. That is just a given with wireless. You can use more WAPs or have wired connections in the room.
Back in the day, this issue came up ALL THE TIME. The answer was always go wired on everything.

Wireless vs. Wired. Mr. Opinionated will say nothing more. And, sometimes you have to.

Do not worry koby. Version 10 is coming. Fear is the only darkness. *Are you afraid of your wireless network?*

Hi everyone,
8.2.4 has been doing well on wireless for us. The wireless is a little slower than hard wired, but this is minor.
So, sure, hardwired is better. But, at least for us, wireless is just fine!

I'm still thinking it's something with windows 8/10 & AC V8 and wireless; didn't happen with Windows 8/10 and AC < V8, or previous with Windows 7 and wireless although my memory may be faulty

I don't think it has anything to do with 8/10 and certainly not with Amazing Charts.
I don't know why it is happening now. But, wireless is famous for dropping connections. Only takes a second.

I think that my husband is going to physically hurt someone if we cannot figure out why AC randomly shuts off. Just spent 10,000 on a new server to accommodate the upgrades. Have upgraded to windows 10, added memory in desktops....nothing helps. The most frustrating part is that while one computer is particularly noted to be the worse, it has now moved to another computer and the bad one is good. There is one computer that never shuts down, one that does it once a day, but of course the doc's shuts down with every fricking chart. We have spent thousands, literally on trying to fix this and so far we have not made any progress. Support is making me crazy, they cost me hundreds as they cannot seem to effectively communicate with either my tech guy or me. In the middle of our upgrade the tech said that he had to go, it was time for him to get off work and just abandoned him! I'm seriously thinking its time to look elsewhere. My frustration has reached a new height!

Just a thought:
All the server upgrades in the world and likely not the client upgrades will help if there are issues with bandwidth. It sounds like you know what you are doing so I don't want to be condescending. Most major issues with AC are reported by many users, and they are known bugs.
On the weekend, I would come in and use one computer for an hour, then add another, then another. You say it is in different computers. That sounds like bandwidth. I would check the router or switch first. Make sure they are GB. The ethernet cable from the server to the switch has to be GB ethernet. Check the cards on each computer and make sure they are autonegotiating at 1GB.
To be fair, this doesn't sound like an AC issue. It sounds like a network issue. If you can get a certified IT person to come out with a fluke meter and test every connection for $100, you may get to your problem rather quickly. It only takes one connection. Get a managed switch so you can see what the speeds are. Or get a cheap switch that is definitely 1 GB and add one at a time.

I have a certified IT guy I'm working with. We did just replace the switch last weekend, but not sure about the speed on it. I will copy your note and forward it to him to see if this has been completed.
Thanks!

Again, I don't mean to question you. Is this person a Microsoft MVP and MCITP? Does he have a fluke meter (it may be called something else) to check every connection.
I wonder if your staff comes in early like reception, referrals, MAs, biller, etc. They connect, use the bandwidth. Then the doctors come in after rounding and start to use computers, so theirs are the first to go.

If it were an AC related issue, more people would be seeing it. Most likely there's an issue with the network setup as Bert indicated. When you say crash, can you be more specific? Is on a specific tab (e.g. Imported Items) or is it when opening a chart? Is there a message when it crashes?
Send me a PM and I can take a look at it.

When you think about it, ePrescribe is my slowest action. Right when I click on it. Plus, it has to send over the Internet. Sorry it happens.

It's supposed to be rather incredible. I was sworn to secrecy, but since you know, there must have been a wikileak.
