Is it possible to scan a document directly into the Updox Inbox?

Yes. Depends a little on your scanner setup.

You can set up a folder that automatically uploads to Updox (this is done via the Updox program), and then set your scanner to save the scanned document into that folder.

Or you can set up an Updox printer. Anything you print via this printer will go into the Updox inbox. Then you set your scanner to automatically print to that printer.

I use the first method to scan to Updox. I use the Updox printer whenever I want to print something directly to Updox, such as a Word document, or part of a webpage.

Dino,

When you install UPDOX, it places a folder called "SendToUpdox" in the users folder on the computer. For example, mine is at "C:\Users\Marty\SendToUpdox"

I set my scanner to send scans to that folder. Now the only thing is that these files will only import into UPDOX, if I log into that computer and sign into UPDOX. Otherwise they just sit there until I log in.

Open the updox main window.
Click on Actions on the top
Then click on Open Autoupload Folder

In our office, we have a multifunction scanner/fax/printer. we have our updox 800 number programmed in as a favorite on it. we basically just fax from ourselves into updox. Our setup is such that we connect to a cloud server (not the AC cloud). This faxing eliminates a lot of "finding the file and copying to the updox folder" time for the staff. Our faxed document just appears in updox inbox. It does count in terms of pages you are charged for at the end of the month through updox, but worth it, less chance of losing a file as there is less chance for human mistakes.

Aaron,

If you find yourself using a lot of your pages per month, you could use your scanner to email yourself the scanned files and this won't count against your monthly allotment. Just email the pages to your UPDOX email address

Michael/Marty sorry I can't find this feature.

I access Updox on my client desktops via the secure tab in AC. The Updox installation however was on my server. I too want to have my files from my ScanSnap loaded automatically into Updox

Dino,

Have the scans from ScanSnap saved to the server under the /sendtoupdox folder. That folder will be in the user folder of whomever installed Updox. You might want to call UPDOX to see if they can help you find the folder if you can't find it

One issue with Updox questions is that AC users may have two different versions of Updox: the paid version that has been around for years, and the free version that started with V7 of AC. The features differ so it is hard for the users of the paid version (I believe that includes Marty, Jimmie, and me) to answer this sort of question. Dino, do you have the free version? If so, you may not be able to find the upload folder as Marty described and support is probably your best bet. Let us know what you learn.

Jon,

Thanks for pointing that out regarding different version of Updox. I didn't take that into account

Marty/Jon/Jimmie

I should have clarified. I have the subscription version of Updox. I called the help desk. They installed "Updox Central" app on my client computer that is attached to my ScanSnap scanner. From there you can select the folder you want to scan directly into Updox.

Of note, you can install Updox Central app on ANY computer that has a scanner attached. The UPdox Plug-in (within that application) however, can only be enabled wherever AC database is stored.

I hope that helps.

From my brother multifunction, we installed the UPPDOX PRINTER, then use the COPY function and choose the UPDOX printer. So we scan, using COPY and is goes directly into UPDOX.
