OK, I have read all of the posts about V7 and V8 and their associated problems, the slowness and the other bugs. I am happily using 6.3.3. I have no pressing need to upgrade. I am not doing MU2. I have a separate PM program which is completely ready for ICD-10. I was pushed into making an upgrade appointment with AC by their "mandatory" warning, and caution that one would not be able to get an appointment later to upgrade. So, my appointment is coming up in 2 weeks.

Will it wreck my pleasant summer, and eat up my free time, to upgrade and deal with the associated changes/problems? I am too old and wise to jump into self inflicted pain.

So, for those who have gone to V8 and used it for a bit, how about a quick vote? If you were in my situation, would you upgrade? Yes or no?

I was scheduled for an upgrade and then decided to cancel it as I am unsure if i can handle all the expected problems with it , so i decided to stay with 6.3.3. My PM system should be ready for ICD 10. My only question is how to use the ICD 10 codes in 6.3.3 since the encounters in AC will need to show the ICD 10 codes also when these charts are reviewed by insurance companies . So, I am going to try adding the codes manually for my specialty using the 'diagnosis search' button . Anyone else doing the same ?
my vote would be no if I had the choice

you can always directly type in a diagnosis code in the assessment box yes an extra step having to do an internet lookup of icd 10 code then manually type it in but it will be in there in the note but not in the summary

Thanks all.
That bad, Koby?
BamaDoc, somehow I missed that you had asked the same.

It is possible to change the ICD codes in administrator options. Then, when you use them, the ICD10 code will appear in the note and summary page. So, could stay with 6.3, and manually recode my most common diagnoses.

Does anyone know, with V8, for your previously entered ICD9 diagnosis codes, does the program convert these, or do the ICD9 codes stay in the summary, and one has to manually reenter each patient's diagnoses?

The summary will show all dx's doesn't differentiate which ICD it comes from

I can't imagine it would be able to change then.

Any chance an ICD-10 module could be added to 6.x.x for us dinosaurs who have elected to stay with that series and give up MU?
I might even be willing to pay for it -- even though supposedly upgrade to 8.x.x is no charge to AC subscribers.

So, it sounds like, even if one moves to V8, you have to manually reenter all the patient's diagnoses. Yuk!

Bert, my PM program came with a matching tool to take ICD9 codes and suggest possible ICD10 matches. It made the work of prepping for ICD10 pretty simple. Many codes have reasonable 1:1 matches.

No you can still see them in the summary or pull them from the drop down problem list above the assessment box.

There have been a ton of updates since 6.3.3. I can assure you there is no likelihood that they would consider developing a module for it.

I would recommend you find an independent computer and install a copy of V8 on it. See how it works for yourself. There are some speed issues, but they are not as significant as you may think. There are significant upgrades in diagnosis coding and ERx.

Yes, 6.3.3 is faster, so was Windows XP! It's time to move on.

Loud is good
Fast is better
Loud and fast is best

The EMR is already a lot slower than paper charts.
Why do I want to slow down MORE?
This is "progress?"

I upgraded, and it appears copacetic with version 8. Solo practitioner, only 3 workstations, hardwired, occasional use of tablet by wifi. AC IT was quite helpful, upgrade went without a hitch. I am not a paid spokesperson. laugh

Does anyone know whether the issue of remembering vaccine lot numbers is fixed in 8.2.4?

So, I was told that the vaccine issue is not fixed. That makes my decision. There is no way that I am going to enter the lot number each time for the hundreds of flu vaccines that I give in the fall. I guess I am staying with 6.3.3 for the foreseeable future.

I can confirm what Donna suspects. The vaccine lot number and VIS default fill-in is NOT fixed in 8.2.4.

John,
I was also told that it will not be fixed until at least first quarter 2016! That is ridiculous.

I have never used another program that broke features that worked when upgraded.

So, I won't upgrade in time for ICD10. I'll adjust diagnoses manually if I want ICD10 codes to appear. Thank goodness that I don't use AC for billing.

Upgrade appointment cancelled, I will enjoy the rest of my summer without worrying about the hassles that upgrading AC creates.

I guess this means that I should take you off my follow-up list for later this month. cool

Hopefully we will see you when we are back East this fall.

Thanks, Indy.

I usually like to stay one version behind, but, in this case, I'll stay two behind. Life is too short to invite trouble with buggy software.

Sorry to have missed Laramie, and, yes, hope to see you here in the east.

We are using V8.2.2 and not having many issues. The vaccine lot numbers are populating for us, after the first input.. The only issue we have run into is the speed of closing a chart is sometimes slow and we think we have not closed the chart and re enter the X and it closes the chart AND Amazing Charts at the same time.

At this point, I'm going to look at the calendar and try to find a week where I can get in some USNA sailing (with Iron City) and a home football weekend.

Hopefully Gene, Gino, John, Bev, and the rest of the cohort are reading.

Also, looking at joining a club so that I can get a big boat for sailing San Diego in 2016.
