Hello all. This is my first discussion post.
I manage a new practice that sees patients exclusively in ALF and skilled nursing facilities. Our patient roster is spread across 8 facilities and adding new facilities regularly.
My question is this: Is it possible to assign a patient to a facility? Many of our patients are long-term care and it makes no sense to make duplicative entries. Currently, when a new encounter is created it is assigned to the default "office" location, which doesn't really exist. Unless it is manually changed per encounter, it always appears at the default location.
I would like to assign the patient to a facility, so that all new encounters automatically populate the place of service for a given patient. I would further like to use this data to generate patient census lists on a per facility basis. I can do this in Lytec where our PM is managed, but not in our AC-EMR.
I would further like to print all encounter notes from a facility from a specified date. as is, we are going into each patient's chart, going to the past encounters tab, and printing a PDF and emailing or efaxing them to the facility. It's a cumbersome and time consuming process, and there has to be a better way.

Pete, We have the same issues. Your administrator will need to add your facilities codes in set up. Then when new pt information is added their account information needs to be defaulted to their locations and saved.
For facility list I have created reports: Demographics page: Misc.Info tab: and select a number field (5): enter a standard abbreviation/code for each facility. Examples: Lacrosse, St Joes. Once your main facilities are in you can select them from your drop down list. (keep all facilities under the same Misc Info #)
Facility list Reports: select demographics; Field 5(or which ever field you choose) = or contains Lacrosse: run your list. I also will add preferred providers to lists-as we have multiple providers seeing pts at various facilities. You can also run an all inclusive facility list by the same Demographics: Field5 <>. For billing reports on your main page select filer print:daily batch:all billing by day:Pull reports for a date range:add you date/provider/location and select wanted information. I hope you will find this useful. Flounder

Thanks for your reply, Flounder.
I quite literally received zero training on this system and have fumbled my way through it thus far, which hasn't proven too difficult.
I'm using misc. field 2 for the facility name and misc. field 5 for acuity level (ALF, skilled nursing, etc.). I see where I can use this info in reporting.
Are you aware of a way to sort my SOAP notes batch by date/facility instead of date/provider?

We received zero training too-so are Floundering our way around. I came up with the lists we use by trial and error as AC techs many times did not have answers. The reports in AC are lacking because when you have multiple criteria the program locks up. SOAP notes reports--I only see reports by date/provider but will keep looking. Hang in there--I am not that computer literate by am Floundering my way around in AC. Flounder
