I've seen references to 8.2.4 being the version that cloud based AC is running, and that it fixes many of the slow response time issues. When will this be available to us mere mortals? I really don't want to upgrade to 8.2.2 just to turn around and upgrade again to 8.2.4.

It is generally available now through Customer Support. We'll be posting the links for 8.2.4 on the portal next week. We have a couple hundred users on it now and results are positive. I'll provide more details next week when the links are posted.

What is the official status of this release? Beta? Are you saying that 8.2.4 will be the official version?
What are the known issues that this version fixes?
Thanks for update.

running 8.2.4 for 2 weeks. no major issues. 4-5 simultaneous workstations.
1-2 random crash on workstation.
no significant lag for me. i'm running a resaonably fast xeon server with ssd and gigabit ethernet.
all client workstations with ssds. not sure it's necessary for AC, but a cheap 120gb intel ssd in each client makes them very snappy overall.
others are figuring out which parts of the above make the most difference. but for doctors i figure the hardware upgrades are cheap for the productivity gain and frustration minimization.

Glad it seems to be working out for you, are you really able to click on a patient chart, tabs, open and close charts and not have to take a deep breath waiting for action? What size is your database? Is it a hardware fix or do some of us have more patience than others?

There is a bug. New patient's number is not assigned in sequential manner. It added 1000 to my roster.

Yes feels only a touch slower than 7.3 I think was on. I'm solo on ac for 4 years so not huge db but not small either. Pretty usable for me. Need more users to weigh in.
I'm sure there is software speed limit somewhere. Fast hardware is a band aid but helps overall. I can't see why essentially a db program with my size needs shouldn't be near instantaneous other than feature bloat. Thanks Feds...

Installed last night without any major hiccups. Had same problem of misc error occurring on clients, went back to main server and noted that the .mdf files lost the sharing setting which i changed and all is up. No speed difference from 8.2.2 but definitely slower than 7.3

Is 8.2.4 still in beta test or has it been released?

8.2.4 is currently the newest release. You can always go to your patient portal to see the latest release. I am not sure if this is accurate, but you can also go directly to the release notes, which should show the newest version on a blue button. Again, not completely sure.

I really debated saying this, but I can't help myself. In the release notes for 8.2.4, it states that it improved the performance issues for the small percentage of users who reported performance issues.
What is considered small percentage? It is good that AC is fixing the performance issues incrementally, but I think you have to admit there is an issue if you are going to fix it.

Speaking for myself, going from 6.5 to 8.2.2, there was a definite performance hit (opening & closing charts and viewing Imported Items mostly). The few extra second "hang" is really irritating and messing with workflow for me and my staff (if you hit the close "x" on the patient chart window twice in haste, AC quits!) That frustration, plus the new bugs introduced (the inability to attach charts to existing messages, problems with messaging from the sign off window, loss of auto fill in the vaccine window, etc) is clearly not affecting a "small percentage of users". Veteran AC users are just used to motoring through.
The release notes are just business jargon.

They have fixed the vaccine issue. But, for me, the speed issue is intolerable. And, this is only using it in trial. The scary thing is unless you have a really good backup of your server, it is nearly impossible to go back.
So, what this means is I would have to install the program in a production environment knowing already there are issues. If it then became slower, I would be in trouble.
Even if there were a small percentage of users and you can see by the number of people here that there is more, the program should have been fixed before release. If 8.2.4 is faster than 8.2.2, it shows that it is possible that it could have been improved at least a little before release. This is what beta testing is for.

We've recently posted 8.2.4 to the client portal along with the latest release notes. In response to our customer concerns, our Development team investigated and improved the database queries in multiple areas including:
? Opening the chart directly to the Most Recent Encounter tab ? Navigating to the Most Recent Encounter tab ? Closing the chart from the Most Recent Encounter tab ? Closing the chart from the Summary Sheet tab ? Closing the chart from the Past Encounters tab ? Searching or scrolling through the Patient List on the main Amazing Charts screen
These particular areas comprised approximately 75% of all user complaints related to performance. We're committed to continued efforts to improve systems performance with a focus on e-Prescribing and Imported items at the top of the list. I'm unable to make a comment on a delivery timetable as we're in the early stages of investigation however the plan is to deliver these, and potentially other performance enhancements, with Version 9.0, our next major Enhancement release scheduled for Q1 2016.

Installed 8.2.4 over 8.2.2 today, no problems. Have to say, I like the new installer, less of the bumping & grinding than the old AC installers. Still -- a few command line windows appear -- a little scary when doing a weekend install.
In any case, opening & closing charts isn't perceptibly faster. YMMV, to quote Indy.
