As described elsewhere, we recently upgraded to V8.2.2, after using V8.0.2 briefly in a ?sandbox? computer. Several bugs were apparent and I thought I would list them here. All are being reported to AC. Some are listed as ?known issues? but most are not.

Messages: One set of problems relates to how messages are displayed. Note that if you keep your inbox empty, this is less of an issue; for those of us perpetually with more than about 15 in the box, it is a bigger deal:
a. By default messages are sorted older to newer, as before, but instead of the focus being on the last, newest message at the bottom of the list, it is on the first, oldest one. (We tend to start with the most recent and work back so this is a negative change).
b. Then, if you delete the message (or forward to a staffer) instead of going to the next most recent, the focus goes back to the top of the list, the oldest.
c. Finally, sometimes after deleting or forwarding a message, the program seems to ?lose focus? and keep returning to the same place in the middle of the messages, which is useless.

Another message bug: if someone sends you a message that is not attached to a patient, you can no longer attach that message to a patient. I think this is what CharlesMS has mentioned in the shout box).

Warnings: If one chart is opened and you try to open a second one, there used to be a warning, ?Opening chart #2 will close chart #1. Do you want to do this?? That message no longer appears. Past experience shows that many partially completed notes will be lost this way.

Shortcuts: I have not checked all of the shortcuts, or even all that I frequently use. Several were missing from V8.0.2, but after I reported them, Chris Conrad at AC swiftly restored all except for one, which is ?tab-enter? which allows you to move from chart box to box in the ?enlarged text box? view.

As others find issues, I would encourage you to list them here and to report them to AC.

I can click on the column headers in messages and sort them - Alphabetically or reverse alphabetically by FROM or SUBJECT, and chronologically or reverse chronologically by RECEIVED. Are you saying that in 8.2.2 there is no longer this ability?

Item b and c is already occurring in version 8.02 and is extremely frustrating. It becomes ridiculous if you have a lot of messages in your in-box.

These problems all occurred in 8.0.2 and 8.2.2.
The good news is that most (if not all) are to be corrected in 8.2.3.
Resorting by clicking the column header never stopped working.

I just upgraded to 8.2.2 this week, and all went well. The AC staffer was unable to upgrade me to 8.2.3, despite the recent post from Craig implying this would be available in June, and we could ask to be upgraded to the "8.2.3 beta".

However I can confirm the same bugs that Jon has reported. In addition, I noticed that when templates are used in the Encounter Note, the entry cursor moves to the bottom of the note after the template is inserted, adding another step to move back up in the window.

I am not sure if this is apropos (sp?) to this thread, but why is everything alphabetically sorted in first name, last name?

Bug report (reported to AC): in the sign-off window for imported items, if a message is sent to staff, the subject line has 2 copies of the patient's name.

Another observation after working with 8.2.2 for about 72 hours now:
-- Dragon Dictate seems to be more accurate/faster dictating into the encounter note window. I wonder whether some parameter was changed that both optimized inserting text from Dragon and also is causing the cursor to reposition down to the bottom of the window after templates are pasted in. Or else it's my imagination (entirely possible!).

The VIS dates and lot numbers have to be re-entered every time the same vaccine is entered. They used to default to the last values entered.

I upgraded to version 8.2.3 yesterday and everything seemed to go pretty smoothly until...I attempted to use the drop down menus at the top of the amazing charts schedule on my Windows 8 'main' computer. Everything works wonderfully on my remote computer that uses Windows 7 professional. Also, I am unable to delete messages in my inbox.

Anyone know of a fix for these problems? I have contacted Amazing charts via email and voicemail but no answer yet (and understandably so as today is Father's Day)!

If anyone can help, please leave a message.

Thanks,
Ruthlyn

Hi Ruthlyn,

Welcome to AC and the ACUB. Sorry that your first post is about a problem. AC really tries. They have won so many awards, and I think if the government had just stayed out of the EMR business, they would be so much better. They finally get past Meaningless Use, and ICD-10 follows. I read a report the other day in a reputable medical journal, that doctors are asking for a two-year reprieve for ICD-10. Crazy. Anyway, my answer below.

I have never used 8.2.3 or 8.2.4 in production. I can't reproduce those issues. As always, you are probably better off using the chat feature than email or voicemail. From everything I have ever read on here, I am not sure why the telephone number is even there. You can talk to someone on chat and then have them call you after.

By the way, a couple of things. When you say remote computer, do you mean a client. A computer that is connected to the "main computer?" If so, then it doesn't seem like the issue is that big of a deal. Unless you are using the main computer for production purposes. People may disagree with me, but if you aren't using a client/server setup, I think trying to keep every computer the same is helpful. You just introduce one more variable using 8.1. It shouldn't cause a problem, but, once again, it may not be AC, it may be something to do with AC and 8.1.

I can't say enough how bad of an idea it is to use the main computer as a live computer for work. It is helpful if you have a "main computer" tuck it away somewhere and uses it like you would a server. There used to be a lot of talk about the advantages of P2P and Client/Server on the board. Both work. I think with the issues of 8.2's speed, more people are moving toward servers with faster processors, etc. I suppose if you use P2P, then at least use it similarly to a client/server. Just my two cents.

"Buncombe CO Ph-Epi" in Asheville, NC.
Does this look familiar to anyone on 8.2.3? It is showing as the "preferred pharmacy" even when my staff has not entered a pharmacy. This occurs for many new patients. (It may be the "default" until a new pharm is entered).

Hi Jon,

Support has a script they can run to correct this issue for you. It?s not a bug in 8.2 specifically as the potential existed all along. In the latest pharmacy update from Newcrop we received a pharmacy with no NCPDP number but it?s an inactive pharmacy so they are resistant to change it. Our code assumes all pharmacies must have a valid number or we'll get odd results such as what you are experiencing. Not all customers are affected. We've corrected the issue moving forward but those who experience can have the script run to fix it.

Jon,

We have a local pharmacy that is no longer open. For whatever reason, Newcrop still has it listed. I like it, because we can send test ePrescriptions to them. I can't think why it is useful to do so, but it has been in the past several times.

How did you get hold of version 8.2.3?

I just tried again to download, and am only being offered version 8.2.2 build 114.

Version 8.2.4 with the performance enhancements just GA'd on Monday following a successful beta period of a few weeks. It's available from Support now and we'll be posting it to the self service portal in another week or so after we get another 100 or so practices updated.

We are on v8.2.4.
_ _ _ _ _

1. A minor bug: when I press F1 (AC help) on the main window, I get this:

2. As I mentioned in another post, HPV-9 vaccine entering is a little funky.

^Try changing your default Internet Browser or disable the script notification error in IE.

Internet Options>Advanced>Disable Script debugging (check it)>Display notification about every script error (uncheck it)
