Hi all, I'm trying to take 8.0.2 for a spin on my Windows 2012 R2 virtual machine. The install ends with this: ![[Linked Image from amazingcharts.com]](http://amazingcharts.com/ub/attachments/usergals/2015/04/full-3960-705-capture.jpg) Any ideas as to what is going wrong?

So the install seems to go just fine on a standard Windows 7 Pro workstation. I suspect it may be some kind of permission issue with the Server 2012 platform when trying to install SQL Server 2012 Express?

What's the last component that installs before the screen? Did you full update with .Net Framework prior to installing? AC can't add the NET Framework feature on its own. You'll have to enable it manually via the add features section.

It's hard to tell - it ends pretty abruptly. I'm going to guess right before the SQL Server 2012 Express..
I do believe the Server is up to date with NET 4.5.2, but I'll dbl check.

So it looks like the last thing I see before the install fails is this: ![[Linked Image from amazingcharts.com]](http://amazingcharts.com/ub/attachments/usergals/2015/04/full-3960-706-capture.jpg)

So this is where it hangs in SBS 2011. I'm now wondering if i have a corrupted install file maybe? It's a stretch, given that it installed fine on Win 7 Pro and WHS 2011. ![[Linked Image from amazingcharts.com]](http://amazingcharts.com/ub/attachments/usergals/2015/04/full-3960-707-capture.jpg)

I'm pretty sure this means you need to add the .NET 3.5 Frameworks to 2012R2. Look in the add roles & features section. ![[Linked Image from amazingcharts.com]](http://amazingcharts.com/ub/attachments/usergals/2015/04/full-2987-710-net.png) Let us know.

You are correct, as usual. ![[Linked Image from amazingcharts.com]](http://amazingcharts.com/ub/attachments/usergals/2015/04/full-3960-711-capture.jpg) It should be noted the particular feature was not enabled by default (at least on my test machine).

All version of Windows Server don't have .NET framework installed by default. You always have to add it as a feature. Older versions of the AC installer would let you know it needs to be enabled.
Windows server out of the box is the bare minimum. Its memory usage is really low when nothing is installed.
