We are told that in order to be fully HIPPA compliant, we are required to test the integrity of our backup files. The exact frequency of these tests is not clearly spelled out. We currently utilize Amazing Charts offsite backup. How are others testing the integrity of their off site backup files?

By the way, complying with the electronic HIPPA requirements is extremely challenging. If anyone has a good resource that spells out in simple language how to navigate these rules, please send my way!

What is typically done is installing AC on a home/spare machine, then taking a recent (last night's) backup and restoring that database onto the home machine. It is effectively binary - either the database restores, and everything looks as you left it last night, or it doesn't restore.

The question is 'integrity?' is that to imply restore functionality or data safety?
