Hi,

Just saw this error today:

I realize it isn't super descriptive, but has anyone else run into this error?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Gianni,

We get this occasionally, no real pattern. (v6.3.3)

Reboot the PC and all is well! Never had it recur soon.

Hi, by "reboot" - do you mean the Server or the Workstation?

Workstation, we have never had to touch the server for this.

I've gotten that error a few times. It's usually been when I'm looking at labs that were imported via the interface.

A little unnerving...

Have you guys done the built-in data checker/optimizer? I think it's called Amazing Utilities.exe

We are version 7.1.3

So when we ran the Amazing Utilities.exe, we got this:

When we did a second pass, the error went away.

Again - unnerving..

Hi Gianni,

Take this with a very large grain of salt, I probably have no idea whatsoever what I'm talking about!

I have actually thought that this error is produced as a result of operating system problems, not specifically Amazing Charts problems. As I think back (and this goes back to the Windows XP era) I remember a few occasions where a single PC would have this error more frequently, as well as other "funny behavior" not related to Amazing Charts. I reinstalled the operating system, and things went back to normal.

Of course, in the process of reinstalling the operating system, I also reinstalled amazing charts.

Gianni, is this on wireless? I wonder if there is a problem with the connection to the server. This would be a reason why you intermittently have an issue.

I haven't seen one of these errors in a while on 8.0.2 wink

hi,
I get this error from time to time regardless of whether I use wireless or wired .
Lately this seems to happen when AC is on automatic log off mode and I try to put in the password to re enter AC
it used to happen when an Imported item failed to open in Adobe so I use Foxit on my server

Dear Gianni,

The same error just appeared on a 6.6.5 peer-to-peer windows 7 server.

Amazing Utilities says "Repairing Connection . . . X View Error Report" and then "Connection Error. Your Connection could not be repaired."

The second pass of Amazing Utilities fixes it, but it comes back the next day.

Amazing Utilities was run because a station complained that "Amazing Charts service is not running on the server" and warned that various services would be unavailable and Amazing Utilities needed to be run on the AC server.

So far, nothing has fixed the station error message about the Amazing Charts service not running on the server, including a complete uninstall and reinstall of AC on the station.

The station is used just for check-in, so it's not a serious problem--yet.

Cheers,

Carl Fogel

This is from a wired workstation.

Where does one download 8.0.2?

Gianni, you can email AC and request the links. In addition, in a couple of days it is supposed to be available through your practice portal.

Is there a direct tech support email? There only seems to be a form for Upgrade Appts through the portal.

Also, instead of upgrading, I'm planning on testing out the version 8 on a different server altogether. Is it possible to install V8 clean, then import the 7.1.3 data?

Yes, you can do a clean install, then restore and tune the database.

If that server has terminal services, you will wnat to test that capability after install, you may find some issues.

Contact support through your AC program and try to chat with them. If you don't get someone, it gives you the option to email. Either way, just send a request for the link to the upgrade.
