Only happens on one machine after changing user profile settings in windows.

I load AC 7.1.2, it hangs on 'configuring crystal reports' on the loading screen.

I have tried repairing the AC install, Removed and reinstalled SAP Crystal Reports for .NET 4, and Uninstalled AC fully and reinstalled.

Anyone had this issue?

Couple of things to check:

Have you tried to repair the install from the control panel?

Did you right-click-"run as administrator" during the install?

I'm guessing that you have run the AC utilities to check DB connection/speed?

Yes to the first two points.

AC Utilities shows a connection error. SQL Interface error - 25. Connection string is not valid

I hit 'reset paths', as it was looking for the database on the c drive instead of our server.
Now when AC loads, it doesn't ask to navigate to the 'main computer'.

I uninstalled and reinstalled AC more of the same.

Alright, then there is an issue with the DB connection.

There are two XML files in the AC directory that have connection settings, and dealing with those can sometimes be illuminating.

A short-cut is to use AC utilities to "Reset database connection" or similar. On the road, so don't have it in front of me.

This should prompt you to browse to the database.

The reset should provide you with the prompts to connect to the database.

One of the things about re-installing AC is it often works better to completely delete the directory after the un-install, then restart.

You can also use Revo or similar to clear out the registry.

May need to use revo, when I use the 'reset connections' it doesn't get to the point where it is able to prompt me to choose the new location, as it continues to hang on 'configuring crystal reports'

Used Revo Uninstaller, did a full uninstall and deleted registry entries. Uninstalled SAP Crystal Reports also.

Reinstalled AC, no dice. Still hangs...

Dear Brock,

You might try the Microsoft-fixit in this thread:

http://amazingcharts.com/ub/ubbthreads.php/topics/62958/Client_Computer_Install_Issue_

It solved several different (and mysterious) AC7 install-errors for me when I ran it to uninstall and reinstall what must have been subtly corrupted .net's on each computer.

Here's the Microsoft-fixit:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=15697

By trial-and-error, I found that the repair-option failed, but its uninstall and reinstall options let me install AC7 and get AC7 to work.

Cheers,

Carl Fogel

Thanks. I contacted AC support, who sorted it out while i was away.

The funny / sad thing is that I was the OP of that thread blush
