I've been informed by Michigan Medicaid that they will only accept 90 day reporting period for MU which begins on first day of a quarter....as in Jan 1 or Apr 1 or July 1 or Oct 1. WTF!!!!!!! I thought I could report for any 90 day period!

Hi Dr Godbole.
I did some research on the MI Medicaid website (they do not make it easy to find information) and I found this bit of information:
Because all providers must upgrade or adopt newly certified EHRs in 2014, all providers regardless of their stage of meaningful use are only required to demonstrate meaningful use for a three-month (or 90-day) EHR reporting period in 2014: ▲ Eligible Professionals (EPs) beyond their first year of Meaningful Use must select a three-month reporting period fixed to the quarter of the calendar year. ▲ EPs demonstrating Meaningful Use for the first time in 2014 may select any continuous 90 day reporting period (does not need to be affixed to a calendar quarter). ▲ Providers must attest to these reporting periods no later than February 28, 2015 at 11:59pm ET.
My interpretation is that if this is your first time for MU, then it can be any 90 Days, if it is not then it must be a calendar quarter. I will check with our MU team to see if this is uniquely a MI State ruling, or if this is nationwide.

Thank you Mark. Could you post the URL of where you see the February 28 2015 deadline? I looked at the Michigan Medicaid guide pdf and I don't see the deadline being spelled out. If it is truly Feb 28, I can stop freaking out for now!

Sure, I found there information here: http://www.michigan.gov/documents/mdch/04-17-2014_HITC_Final_454127_7.pdfIts a PDF, and the information was on page 11. Feb 28th has been the standard "Last Day for Attestation" for a couple of years. They usually end up extending it by a week because the CMS website usually crashes due to overload.
