We have 2 laptops, 1 yesterday and then the other today, can not connect to AC. We are using Avast antivirus. Nothing has changed. All of a sudden AC will not open, acts like its trying to install and Avast prompts that it blocked a virus. We are running version 7. 1 desktop has been working fine. Co-worker attempted to log into AC on main computer and it did the same thing!! Now the 1 desktop will not connect, we have NO EMR and angel webchat is not available. Have been trying to reach someone at AC all day!!! Someone please call our office!! We are completely without an EMR now!! 908-475-4600

On avast, when the little box pops up in the lower right hand corner, flag AC as a file not to be scanned. Then try to start AC again. you will get a couple of extra screens, but it will go ahead and start.

Thank you to the AC tech team for calling me right away on this matter. It was more involved than just turning off avast (which we do not want to do) AC just needed to be added to the Avast list of acceptable programs.

It sounds like Wayne and Jon gave you the correct answers. Wayne was basically saying to have Avast not look at AC as a virus. Adding it as an acceptable program did this. There are a few antivirus programs that do this. Why it happened out of the blue, I am not sure.

In the future, if there seems to be an issue like this, turning off your A/V and/or firewall to see if AC or any program that is not running correctly is a goo troubleshooting step. In fact, some antivirus programs such as McAfee or Symantec have to be uninstalled.

It is better to go without an antivirus program for a day and be able to use AC, than the other way around. If one does have to do that just be careful when clicking on websites and email attachments.

Once you know it is the A/V or firewall by shutting one or both off, then you go can about the actual fix.

Glad you got it working.
