Once again, since doing the update in May, we have messages saving to the wrong patients chart. One thing that makes it so frustrating, is you cant just delete the message out of the wrong chart and put it in the correct one. I wish there was an option to delete the messages. I know people say that they can not be deleted because they do not want people falsifying medical records, but if it was a paper chart, you could just pull the message out and put it in the correct chart. Just like if an item was imported to the wrong chart, you can print it, and delete it out of the wrong one, and import to the correct one. There should at least be an option to delete the message as an administrator.

I agree. Mine crashes when I try to delete too many imported items. Guess that's AC's way of making sure we don't tamper too much.

I just wish we could delete the msg if it is saved to the wrong chart. AC has been doing that to a lot of ours lately and we have no idea why.

Scott have you ever gone to Admin Options>Tools>Imported Items: Repair Missing Files/Links? I suggest doing it when nobody is working though.
That fixes the problem for us when we get delete II (imported items) and then get an error about a file missing.
LeAnne, I'm not sure if that utility would help you regarding messages, but I do think its useful if you have ever deleted an II.

LeAnne, this comes back to the old issue of how AC deals with our errors in charting; messages, notes, etc. The program is apparently designed to prevent changes to the record. Nonetheless, many of us feel that when an error is made (e.g., the wrong date on a note; a note on the wrong patient; or your example of a message in the wrong chart) that there should be some mechanism to correct this. Solutions might be analogous to a paper chart, such as making it possible to strike through the message or note in "past encounters". Perhaps there should be some documentation that a message was deleted/moved. I am not sure if this issue has been brought to the attention of the people at AC looking at fixes and new features, but I will communicate with them via the Clinical Advisory Board.

What version are you using. I agree with Jon about paper charts. You can leave the note in and strike it out with one line and initial it. I suppose if you removed an entire page, you could document that you removed it and it is in chart 2012 with this number at top.
Being able to delete an entire message would be very dangerous and tempting. Your MA documents in a message to you that so and so patient has a fever of 104, abdominal pain and lethargy and you somehow don't read it. Then they are diagnosed with leukemia two weeks later. It would be extremely tempting to delete that message.
Just wondering if you have a version in the 7s.

We do not have a version in the 7s. The last update we did, really just seemed to make a lot of things worse. As far as the messages go, Let's say patient "A" calls for a refill, so we send a message to the doctor. She replies back with refill info that was transmitted, so we save to the chart of what we think is patient "A", but it will save the whole message to patient "B", and nothing in the message has anything to do with patient "B". We have no idea why it is doing this, and how it is even picking the patient chart it is saving to. It is so frustrating and would be much more convenient to just be able to delete that msg and make a new one to save to the correct chart of patient "A". Or, maybe not an actual delete feature, but the option to move entire message to different (correct) chart under the admin options? As of now, when we realize it has not saved to the correct chart, I have to go in manually and flag the wrong chart it was saved to, so that we can make sure the record is pulled out if any records are ever sent. Then, on top of that, I have to go and print the message to import to the correct chart. Even though it is imported in the correct chart, it is not in the messages section, so it could be overlooked.
