We did an update in March and since we have done that, when we print orders on some, it will not print the diagnosis code or the actual order. When viewing the order before printing, everything is there, but it does not print out. Also, on some of the encounters it does not print a diagnosis code. It did not do this before the update, but we have not been able to figure out why it is doing this.

It sounds like your installation was messed up. Can you try reinstalling?
You may also want to try some of the following
Restart the computer
Try printing to another printer if you have one.
Try printing from a different computer.
Reinstall crystal reports. I'm not sure if this is possible, it may require AC to be reinstalled altogether.
If it is only happening to some, it seems to me that it is AC related and again i would recommend reinstalling AC. Backup first though.

Has anyone else had this problem? It doesn't matter which printer we print on ( we have used all), or which computer. Have restarted all computers as well. The only thing we have not done is reinstalling. Has anyone had any experiences with a version 7? We have a 6.5.6 version I think and have not done a download of a newer version because of all the issued we keep having with the last update.

In that line of versions, you may find that 6.6.7 ( the last of the 6.x versions) to be an improvement.

Have run the AC utilities to check the condition of your database?

You must make sure you check the diagnosis first. If you click on the lab and then the dx, it will NOT PRINT the dx. Not sure when this glitch started but it was somewhere in the V6s and I think it's still there.

Now if you are checking off the dx box first, then there is another issue.

Yes, we are making sure to check the diagnosis, but for some reason it just will not print the orders with it. Sometimes it prints the diagnosis, but not the order.

Using all the tabs (Lab, x-rays, etc.) has its advantages. But, for us it has far more disadvantages. This is how we used to do labs:

[Linked Image from amazingcharts.com]

We had all sorts of problems including the infamous "Must check the diagnosis before checking the lab." This should have been fixed in version 1. The cool thing about this bug is we can claim we are the only software application on the planet that has a bug like this.

So we switched to OTHER for everything. We simply type in any order. And, it doesn't matter what order you do it in.

With using the lab tab, you can click one order for multiple labs. We use templates or just type in. Then there is never an issue with any type of order being printed correctly.

@LeAnne I feel really bad for you. You are having problems with vaccines, printing labs and saving messages. The EMR is working against you rather than helping.

I have never tried this, and I don't think you even could, but is there any way to install a version on the server and use a different version as a client. I am embarrassed to even ask that.

But, here is what I would strongly suggest to you: And, it is based on Brad Pitt and the great movie, The Fight Club. You know the one, where there are the infamous rules:

The first rule of Fight Club is to never talk about Fight Club
The second rule of Fight Club is to never talk about Fight Club

In the Amazing Charts remake version of The Fight Club (without MU)the rules are:

Never upgrade to a new version if the one you are on is working.
Never use any other version than 6.1.2 or 6.3.3.

These are the latest two versions which work. They just work. I only have one bug in my version. Other than that, NEVER.

If I were you, I would make a couple of backups of AC as well as backups of the entire computer. Install 6.3.3 on a non-networked computer and see how easy it is to retore to a previous version. I have never gone backwards so I don't know if there will be any database issues. I will try. I know that rolling back on some can be difficult or needs support who you can talk to in three to four weeks.

If there are no issues, and you can always install your 6.6.5 version again, uninstall AC using Revo. Get rid of every trace of anything newer than 6.3.3. Do it on a "sandbox" computer first. Even install your version on a non-needed computer, uninstall it, then install 6.3. My guess is all your issues will go away. Messages will go to the right chart. Vaccines will cooperate. And, even lab printing MAY work.

I am sure there are a lot of people using your version with no problems. And, I know a few that like 7.1.2. I, myself, only see one advantage (besides the ICD-10 and MU) stuff that we don't care about. Some are even searching very hard for 7.1.3. I suppose it depends on how you are going to do your billing and MU. We don't get our billing software anywhere near AC.

As you upgrade to higher versions, you can count on two things. And, it isn't death and taxes. It's more bugs and less support. I know that I am not supposed to say that, but it's reality. (In my experience).

LeAnne - am much as I understands Bert's wishing you well, without loosing data, you cannot go backwards from 6.5.6 to 6.3.3. The database structure and the version of SQL Server changed, so it is *NOT* backwards compatible.

We had one client accept the data loss with 'crashing back' to 6.3.3; they re-did a week's worth of charts.

6.6.7 really is your best alternative at this point - it has relatively less problems than 6.5.6, and some new features that may be helpful.

What several clients have asked us is for us to spin-up an instance of AC, restore their database, and perform the upgrade so that they can see what it looks like, and determine if they want the upgrade or not.

Based on client feedback and their problems, we can't recommend going past 6.6.7 at this time.

Thanks for all of your advice/help. I may talk to the IT about upgrading to the 6.6.7 and see if that helps any. I just do not understand why so many issues!

We were told we had to "upgrade" to version 7.1.3 to start using Kareo Interface since we are changing our billing at the end of the month. I should have been reading more on here about others problems and then would have known that 6.6.7 was the latest recommended version. Oh Well, seems like the problems with version 7 are small compared to what LeAnne is going through. Hopefully I can get some answers about the problems I have found. I send in a bug report on everything we find.
