Recently a patient informed us that she had not received the email inviting her to join the patient portal. Can someone tell me how to resend the email so that a patient can log on for the first time with their date of birth?

Open up the patient in Updox.

Go to the portal tab, and print their log in information. Be sure to select "print to updox" so it shows up in your updox inbox.

Now, close that screen, go to your inbox and click on "send item" for the print out of the patient's log-in sheet (contains, username, password, link to updox)

select the patient, select "email" and compose your message (your log in information is attahed or some such). Be sure to select the "send attachements" checkbox at the bottom of the page.

Click send. It will send it to her email (which should aleady be in updox if you putit into her demographics in AC.

I have a follow up question. I followed your instructions but when I try to resend the log on information by email through the patient portal I get a message that the email cannot be sent because I have exceeded my monthly limit. What's this about? We have been sending out emails to patients with their log on information but is there a limit on the number of emails with the free version of Updox? Should I have checked the box "Send to Portal email address" instead of "Send email to email address" ?

MONTHLY LIMIT ON EMAILS? IN UPDOX? I've never heard of such a thing. Send an email to Updox support.

Meanwhile, print her log in form to a pdf file and send it via your regular email system. Like the one that came with your website if you have one and you set it up yourself.
